  1. Yea Fringe Average is pretty solid. Mike Ferrin is pretty enjoyable as well, especially as far as sports radio guys go.
  2. Has anyone around here put together a roster projection for the minor league teams next season yet?
  3. Voted Villanueva. He's looking like decent bet to be a solid major leaguer. Candelario is just too far off.
  4. Sorry, but this just goes back to the point that if you spend a few years with the only mandate being to acquire prospects, it is not an accomplishment when you actually acquire prospects. No, it does not. That discussion is plastered all over the rest of the forums on this site, there's no need for obnoxious snark to direct another thread to that topic. Thank you.
  5. GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN Crane Kenney became President 8 [expletive] years after the rooftop deal was made. No groans! Everything I can find credits Kenney with negotiating the 2004 agreement and that makes sense since he would have been general council of the trib at that time. Yeah I don't think that's how general counsels work. Source: http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/people/person.asp?personId=190519&ticker=TXA Edit: ALSO, if he was General Counsel at the time, he absolutely would have been involved a great deal as the Rooftop deal originated as the settlement for a lawsuit between the Cubs and Rooftop owners: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=1706351&type=story
  6. Is Michael Bennett really good?
  7. hahaha can you imagine how [expletive] loud that place would be with a roof?
  8. of course i'm in full bitter angry cubs fan mode like everyone else, but color me extremely skeptical that this mega fox tv deal is going to go down like it's been rumored. Yea I'm sadly gonna have to put myself in the extremely skeptical camp as well. Just doesn't make much sense. I'm still hopeful, as Theo acts fairly confident it's on the way. But it may very well just be him convincing himself something has to go right at some point. No offense, but it sounds a lot more like you're the one trying to convince himself something has to go right.

  10. As Sahadev Sharma noted on twitter, it's pretty damn neat that the top 9 all project to arrive in 2014/15
  11. Rizzo? Sadly just recounting what twitter tells me as my BP subscription was up a week or so ago.
  12. Apparently on the Top Players Under 25 list, Castro comes in 2nd behind Baez and Lake comes in 10th.
  13. That may end up being our exact top 10, too. Haha yea just realized that. Can't say I disagree.
  14. 1.) Javier Baez 2.) Kris Bryant 3.) Albert Almora 4.) Jorge Soler 5.) C.J. Edwards 6.) Arismendy Alcantara 7.) Pierce Johnson 8.) Dan Vogelbach 9.) Christian Villanueva 10.) Jeimer Candelario Figured I'd make one for BP since the BA list had it's own thread. Mods can feel free to move this wherever. Edwards is higher than I thought he'd be given Parks' comments about him. Otherwise, no real surprises here. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=22641#.UuEVqVzsaPQ.twitter
  15. Maybe my new favorite NBA gif ever:
  16. Also, the Cubs could like drag all the equipment in there, start construction, and then have to stop everything because the rooftops got an injunction. What fun.
  17. Voted Vogelbach and Villanueva in that order. I put Villanueva in front of Candelario due to progress and proximity to the majors. Still think he'll end up a regular 3B in the majors somewhere.
  18. The Bears have hired Rick Herring, formerly of the Houston Texans, as their LB coach.
  19. Kinda irrelevant, but I did find this funny:
  20. And the Cubs traded away a bunch of players with 1/4 of the year or so to go. Players nowhere near the same caliber as the ones NY lost. Unless you think Mark Texieria is on a similar par with David DeJesus. In terms of dreaminess, the Cubs clearly suffered the greater loss.
  21. Not to be a dick, but that perspective is pointless. No use comparing guys on the open market to a guy locking in early with his team. Haha don't see how that's dickish. Also, didn't realize we could say "dick" here.
  22. Yea, still not that confident in the Yankees long term. They're gonna have a really hard time in that division, even with their recent additions.
