  1. Haha, it was definitely intentional! Now the language on MLB.com has changed subtly: "Listen in as Mark Prior and Kerry Wood appear in their first Cactus League games since '05. Meanwhile, on MLB.TV," Earlier it said you could watch the game.
  2. Someone needs to stop being a greedy bastard and purposely tricking the customers for $$$. Totally! I just switch to Gameday Audio
  3. Thanks Bruce. Is Buck ill or did Lou just decide against him?
  4. The new Premium version isn't available until 4/2
  5. Well, I just clicked the video link to launch the player and all I get is static. Let's hope a picture is forthcoming...
  6. MLB.com has just been remarkably, pathetically bad at letting subscribers & potential subscribers know what the heck is going on. You have to scrounge around to find a broadcast schedule and even then you can't be certain that the schedule is accurate. So is it on MLB.TV or not? Do you subscribe? Then you can tell me! :) It wasn't on the MLB.tv schedule before today and neither the Cubs or the Mariners are broadcasting it, so I don't think it is. I suppose they could try something new and set up webcams or something to stream it ... which would be the first I've heard of MLB doing that. I don't get a paycheck from MLB, though, so I'm guaranteein' nuthin'! They've pulled this garbage before. It may not be a bait and switch, just pure incompetence. The only reason why I used "bait and switch" is because I have my doubts about this broadcast and MLB.com is doing everything they can to publicize it on it's homepage by using Prior and Wood's images and a link for MLB.tv. Again, I hope it is on TV.
  7. http://cubs.mlb.com/mediacenter/index.jsp#20070305 why thank you. nice, if true. yesterday there was no evidence of video coverage on that schedule. Yup, that's what I'm talking about. This could be a bait and switch deal. If anyone wants to buy it they can wait until I see if there's really video... I think it would be pretty odd for them to pull a bait and switch with this spring training game. How many people could they possibly sucker in? 20, 50, 100? The total number of MLBTV subscribers is pretty low, which means the number of Cubs fans are pretty low, and the number willing to sign up on any given day all that much lower. I wouldn't put it past MLB, given their "screw the fan" mentality. But there just isn't any realistic benefit. I don't think the number of subscribers is low and if it is, it won't be for too long because the non DirecTV people will need a place to watch out of market games. I hope it is on MLB.TV but I've seen games listed already this ST that were suppose to be televised only to have no tv link at gametime. This game was not originally scheduled for TV. Unless MLB sent some cameras, or convinced the Mariner's to broadcast it, I don't think it will be available.

  9. That's the standard. Premium is a little more but there is a monthly payment option and, I think they are running a special offseason package (hmmm, actually, that might have expired right before the start of Spring Training).

  11. it looks like it's on mlb.tv. :? I don't know if that's true, even though it's listed on the media guide. I've seen it there before only to see it disappear right before gametime. I wouldn't be surprised if MLB, knowing this is a Wood/Prior game, is playing bait and switch to pump up the subscriptions. I'm already a member so I will definitely be checking into it... I see MLB.com has Prior and Wood on their front page.
  12. I'm not sure why the photographer didn't let some of them know their shirts were crooked. It also looks like Lilly isn't wearing an official Cubs' blue undershirt.
  13. I think this lineup means the cuts are around the corner. Lou wants to get his final looks and also give these kids some playing time before they leave. IIRC, I read last week that first cuts would come around the 10th. This Suntimes burb confirms it
  14. My email says tickets will be mailed after March 13th, the same day they will be available at Will Call.
  15. I can't really disagree with it because the lineup does have the ability to be very strong. Hopefully, the starting pitching can hold it's own.
  16. He was exactly what I thought he was. I'm glad someone was on to him because I wasn't.
  17. I realize that, but when it comes to the Cubs, they have a tendency to humble the best dog in the lot. I agree that managing the Cubs is unique because there's a skeptical fan base and cynical media ready to overanalyze every move and anticipate failure. We've seemingly seen it all before... It's crazy. What other organization's manager or players are grilled about the teams futility before one game is ever played? It's almost like we're bipolar; operating with high expectations and certain doom. Winning the World Series is the only cure for this problem. Having said all that, I still contend that Baker wasn't what we thought he was. LOL, that is, his work in San Francisco didn't prepare him for the media scrutiny he'd get here because, aside from being a bad in-game manager, he was horrible with the media. Lou Piniella has played and managed in NYC and Cincy (both of which are tough baseball towns) plus, he's been apart of the media which makes him much more qualified than most to handle the spotlight of the Cubs' job. Most importantly, I think he understands how to manage a game better than Baker.
  18. Lou Piniella is not unproven. He comes to the Cubs with more of a pedigree than Baker; both as a player and manager.
  19. Some people still call him that. I like Woody.
  20. I get the feeling Woody is really ready but Mark's confidence is shaken... Regardless, I'm going to go out on a limb and say they will both pitch well.
  21. I think Fonzie actually is his real nickname but I like Sori.

  23. it'd be fun to watch, but this team doesnt need any distractions. its the sox turn to fall apart this year. co-sign!
