  1. With Pie off to such a hot start in AAA, is there a chance that Jones gets traded and they are seeing if Murton can play right just in case? Nah, because Pie would be the RF between the two. I think it's for the anticipated Floyd and Murton OF.
  2. FYI, I just heard a conflicting report about DeRosa. I'm not sure if he's playing 2B or 3B but he and Theriot will be in the infield.
  3. A chilly evening should mean more fly ball outs. The ball shouldn't carry too well tonight; He should be able to quickly retrieve any balls that fall in. We'll see...
  4. I think Matt can handle RF reasonably well. Floyd's lack of mobility pretty much limits him to LF. If Cliff stays healthy, Lou will not want to keep his bat on the bench too long. So, if Matt can be more versatile it can only help his chances of playing.
  5. Yup I think Lou wants to see if Murton can handle RF while keeping Jones' OF presence. If Murton passes the test, this may setup an OF of Floyd, Soriano, and Murton L-R.
  6. Tonight's lineup as reported on The Score: Soriano CF Theriot 3B Lee 1B Murton RF Barrett C Jones LF DeRosa 2B Izturiz SS Marquis
  7. As reported on The Score: Soriano CF Theriot 3B Lee 1B Murton RF Barrett C Jones LF DeRosa 2B Izturiz SS Marquis
  8. When Wade Miller gets DFA'd on Wednesday, Guzman will slide into the rotation and Cherry will get called up to take up the spot in the bullpen. Works for me.
  9. I think games should only be cancelled when a tragedy occurs that has widespread ramifications for the nation (ie terrorist attack). CNN is quoting officials who say today's incident is the deadliest rampage in US history however, it appears to be an isolated event. As such, games should not be cancelled nationwide.
  10. ? Look at it in the mirror... Ah I hope We do Win.
  11. Yeah, IIRC, he hit a 2-run homer in his first Sox AB. He's fallen off the map since then.
  12. So, the day that the offense shows up, the pitching staff will be bludgeoned. Figures...
  13. Haha, and just because you say Zambrano has outpitched Marquis, to this point, doesn't mean it's true.
  14. You also have the brain of a human being. With that comes selective memory. It's nothing personal, just part of the human condition. The brain's terrible at remembering rates unless you make a mental note to remember them. I'm sure you didn't and your memory links success with runs. You can complain and vent all you want. At the end of the day it's two weeks into the season and some people should writing off the team. It's April 15th and Alfonso Soriano and Derrek Lee have zero homers. You can say the team has performed as bad as you want, but given the history of the players on the team it's going to change. They'll start producing. The team's problems are not just an isolated issue. As someone mentioned both the AL and NL as a hole are slugging under .400 by a pretty big margin. The Cubs have scored 43 runs and allowed 42 runs. That's usually a good indicator of .500 performance. It carries more predicative power than the teams current .363 performance. I know that. I accept it and am not worried. Sure be upset all you want. It's not as if the teams trying to lose. Just understand that there are swings like this in all seasons no matter how good the team is. To get bent out of shape or your panties in a bunch over it is a complete overreaction. Good, so that means being critical of him means....nothing. In other words you're being critical because you want to emo-rant. Being ticked off with Z isn't going to mean anything. He's not trying to walk hitters. That speaks for itself. It's actually worse than I thought! Congrats. I said I didn't care about his ERA and you went on to say that his ERA speaks for itself. Hmm... Or WHIP (Z-1.875, Marquis-1.27) or BB/9 (Z-6.188, Marquis-4.90), or HR/9 (Z-2.25, Marquis-0), or even VORP (Marquis/1.1, Zambrano/(-5.0). The only thing Z has been better in is K/9 and K/BB. Of the things you posted guess which are the most important. Answer: K/9 and K/BB. I don't care about the actual HR rate. I care about the expected HR rate which is 1.16 HR/9 for Zambrano and 0.84 HR/9 for Marquis, which is expected as Z hasn't kept the ball on the ground much. Marquis has also allowed a .228 BABIP, our defense isn't nearly that good. You have no point. I said Zambrano was being outpitched by others on the staff and it's a fact that can't be disputed. end of story
  15. That speaks for itself. It's actually worse than I thought!
  16. The stats back it up but I don't need them. I have eyes. You can sit back and be critical of the board if you want but people have the right to complain when someone isn't producing. Stop being so quick to talk about others getting their "panties in a twist" as if there is no reason to be upset about some of the performances thus far. Being critical of Zambrano, or anyone else, has nothing to do with how I feel about the season as a whole or him specifically.
  17. He has not outpitched Marquis. Period. I know it's only 11 games, and I'm only talking about the games that have been played.
  18. I still blame Zambrano for the Cubs not winning 2 of 3 games! They should have been going for a sweep!!!! Hill, Lilly, and Marquis have all pitched better than Zambrano and it makes my blood boil.
  19. I think he was talking about Jacque and perhaps Soriano for a day (Lou mentioned in the paper today that he thought Soriano was pressing). I could see Theriot in RF for Jacque.
  20. Bingo! For a guy who is suppose to be the best pitcher in the rotation, he's currently looking like the number 4 starter; with Hill, Lilly, and Marquis all pitching better to this point.
  21. Lilly pitched great. No runs=no win :?
  22. Lou was disappointed that the ball wasn't put in play (Jacque). He said even if there was a DP the run would have scored. They will tinker with some things and play some different people if needed... threatening to bench people. Also said that we have to win games when our pitchers give up only one run.
  23. turn on 720 am or listen online. They have an extended postgame show. They will be playing Lou's comments next. FYI, Comcast Sports Net (not WGN TV) shows the postgame.
  24. I don't think Lou will rip the offense. There were only 6 combined hits in the whole game. He will probably tip his cap to their pitching and also praise his own pitchers.
