  1. Carlos Carlos started the jabbing. Barrett's apparant defense for his stupidity was to tell Zambrano he was getting rocked. Things elevated and it looked to me both guys were looking for physical contact when it started. but it was basically reaching and grabbing. Z started the entire thing. He walked up to Barrett and got in his face with some nasty comments. Barrett probably said something sarcastic then Z pushed him in the head...
  2. Koyie Hill seems to be coming into the game.
  3. Z had the nerve to tell Barrett to think (he was pointing to his head and telling him to be smart). How about picking up your teammates Carlos, instead of blaming them? Also, stop giving up hits on 0-2 counts and throwing meatballs down the middle of the plate!
  4. Wow, Barrett is such a bad defensive player.
  5. Use two hands to catch the ball Murton! :x
  6. I can. The media hasn't been hard on him at all. A lot of easy questions for him to answer and he's obviously not ready for it. The people in the Chicago media are just doing their jobs. If Lou is getting bent out of shape over a couple of questions that aren't really that hard, then he really needs to retire again. I don't think he is... Lou doesn't have to reveal the content of off-the-field meetings. Plus, he's managed in tougher media environments (NY). This isn't Dusty leaving the laid back Bay area for the scrutiny of the Chicago media. I think this whole thing was blown out of proportion. If something happened in the clubhouse with Barrett, or anyone else, they should address it in house instead of making it public knowledge.
  7. Maybe the players decided to bench him tonight in their meeting because of his recent poor play? According to Comcastsportsnet, DLee approached Lou, after the game last night, about having a player's only meeting. Maybe Piniella is helping to facilitate their blessings? It's a stretch but who knows for sure?
  8. Blah, I think this is all about nothing. At least not anything we should be overly concerned about. The team is sucking so they wanted to talk about it (as they should)!
  9. I'm listening to The Score and it really sounds like they are doing their usual; trying hard to create controversy for ratings! I must admit that I've been glued to the radio... First they were "reporting" that Barrett wasn't at the park and now they are saying he could be there getting treatments. They are also speculating that Piniella wants out. We'll all find out in about 30 minutes! FYI, there was also a players only meeting today.
  10. Soriano will anchor LF for 7 more seasons, Pie is the heir apparent in CF and honestly, I don't see Murton producing enough offensively (or defensively) in RF to secure the job full time. BP projects him to hit 15 home runs in 507 PA. Even if he were to reach his 90th percentile he'd only hit 23 home runs with 35 doubles and 84 RBI. I think the Cubs will eventually trade him or relegate him to full-time bench player status (similar to right now except on a permanent basis). Considering the options, I wouldn't have a problem with trading him for something that can upgrade the ML roster.
  11. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Yup. I knew there was something bad about only 670 reporting the news about Marshall. FYI, the Tribune is also reporting that Sean Marshall will be called up this week. Maybe Miller will be used in middle relief; just enough to prove (hopefully) that he's healthy so he can be apart of a trade. Who knows? I think Lou will have him on a short lease because Miller was completely ineffective last time and we know Lou has very little patience for pitchers who can't get outs.
  12. While the Brewers got out to a fast start, there is no guarantee that they will play at or above .500 from here on out. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games (the Cubs are 4-6 during the same period which is why they have picked up a game). A quick glance at the Brewers' upcoming schedule shows that they have, what appears to be, a tough June schedule. They just lost 2 of 3 at home against the struggling Twins, in a series without Santana, and they will see MIN again along with Detroit and Texas on the road (the Cubs will also play the Rangers). Also, let's not forget that the Cubs will face the Brewers 5 times in June (and the Cubs are the only team in the division to win a series against them). It could very well be a great opportunity to shift the balance of power in the NLC. The bottom line is the Cubs have to take care of their own business. I'm of the opinion that MIL will struggle and that there will be an opportunity for advancement in the division.
  13. Floyd went around, West didn't need to ask for help. And why is it disgraceful that he tossed Floyd? He followed Floyd back to the dugout, then tossed him. Floyd was complaining and yelling the whole time and probably had some choice words for West. And West didn't follow him all the way back to the dugout. West made the right call. Floyd complained. Floyd got tossed. Plain and simple. Which game are you watching? He followed him back to the dugout. Plain and simple. Like I said: West made the right call, Floyd complained, Floyd got tossed. It's not rocket science. He followed him part way because Floyd was complaining. Floyd had no business arguing that call. Of course he did, West didn't ask for help. Floyd was done saying his piece and then West ran him down and tossed him. Completely bush league by West, which is fitting because he was terrible today. Why does West have to ask for help? I didn't know that was in the rule book. West thought he made the correct call - which he did - so why should he ask for help? And Floyd was complaining in the dugout too before West tossed him. Don't make Floyd out to be completely innocent here just because you have a vendetta against West. Floyd can complain in the dugout; he was away from the ump and not being confrontational until after he was tossed. The bottom line is he walked away and West followed him in an effort to pursue the argument... Joe West has a reputation for being inflexible but because he's been around forever he'll probably not be reprimanded.

Floyd got tossed. Plain and simple. Which game are you watching? He followed him back to the dugout. Plain and simple. I agree, the ump was the aggressor. All Cliff wanted was for him to ask for help on the call.
  15. Soriano, why the hell weren't you running? :x
  16. Z can't be counted on. I can't believe all that happened after 2 were out; HBP and a walk? That's ridiculous.
  17. I wasn't paying too much attention but the post-game interview with Lou I thought I heard him say it was "improbable." Might be wrong though. Lou did say DLee starting tomorrow was improbable. I guess they are shooting for Sunday because Lou also said during the pregame that Lee was expected to play at some point this weekend... Anyway, I'll be spending my b-day at the game. Please win!
  18. Ozzie is such a D-Bag. Link doesnt work anymore. LOL, oh really? That damn Kenny Williams was on B&B this morning asking that it not be played repeatedly and, considering The Score is now the "home of the Sox" they must have obliged... edit: NEVER MIND, I got a new link on their site: http://podcast.670thescore.com/wscr/468209.mp3 They edited it so now the beeps clean up more of Ozzie's words.
  19. What did that get them? 89 wins. After going to the NLCS. LOL, yeah, that's all... no postseason. I will gladly take 89 wins this season, thanks AND you all know the offense wasnt the reason they didnt go to the playoffs that year.. His name is Latroy Hawkins... and I hate him. That was part of it but the offense slumped down the stretch too. The Cubs lost some heartbreakers in the last 2 weeks of that season; specifically against Cincy and the Mets. IIRC, Prior lost a 1-0 game down the stretch. Anyway, it was the relief pitching and the offense that failed at the end. No he lost a 2-1 game. He gave up a solo homer to Kearns in the ninth to tie it. Yup, that's right! The hitters sucked late in the season. It was painful to watch.

  21. What did that get them? 89 wins. After going to the NLCS. LOL, yeah, that's all... no postseason. I will gladly take 89 wins this season, thanks 89 wins wasn't the point though... I'm just talking about leading the league in homers and also not going to the postseason.
