  7. MONEY. However, with the ideology of Soriano in the leadoff based on past success, the lineup works for me. Go Murt.
  8. I haven't jumped off the deep end yet. Thats why I usually skip a couple pages in the game thread so as to avoid the eternal burning of negativity propagated throughout the forum. I still see a team capable of winning that has not yet gotten off to a run. Lee, Soriano, Jones with 0 HR's, a pitcher for about the last 5 years keep a high 2-low 3 ERA currently at about 7. A bullpen that if pitched like this regularly, half would not even be in the league. Success in 1-2 run games that even the Royals could scoff at. I am not trying to coax others into optimism, however I do firmly believe this is the lowest this club will be all season. The bullpen will regain its confidence, as will Lou with using them, and the power is gonna start to break out in this lineup. I also believe Satan himself Mr. Hendry will make positive moves to make sure his mega spree comes to fruition. As well as I look forward to Guzman becoming a solid starter at the end of the rotation, which will eliminate the automatic losses we have had there so far. The NL Central won't run away from the Cubs, it WILL be for the taking.

  15. I'll be in the bleachers somewhere chugging beer and cursing the name of Adam Dunn.
  16. I don't see how you can make that last claim. He doesn't try as hard? I think it's much more like that it took time for him to adjust to the league's adjustment to him. He was better out of leadoff in 2005 than in the leadoff spot. Understanding the reasoning for Soriano's production is something I nor anyone else really knows. We can speculate but the stats say he is a better hitter at the top of the lineup. It would just be so much easier if he started out hot instead of a slump. The only thing you can do is move him and see what happens but based on the past he will struggle, I don't want him to feel uncomfortable with his spot in the order and despite what some say, I think it does matter. I remember when I was playing baseball, I hit great batting leadoff, third and fourth. I never had those type of games when I batted second or fifth. I can't even explain it to myself except for I felt more comfortable in those spots. Now this isn't a good explanation but just me explaining my personal experience and how it affected me. If the man hits his best at leadoff then let him go through his slump and stay there, maybe he just has better focus there. He will bounce back and be normal Soriano and no one will even talk about it anymore. Jones/Floyd/Barrett will do fine 5-6, lets not start jumbling everything around thinking change will equal success.
  17. Its hard to argue against Soriano in the leadoff spot, obviously his best production has been there and the Cubs have had him penciled in there as soon as they signed him. Unfortunately he has not gotten hot yet so we have to deal with essentially a crappy lead-off hitter for the moment. This is what makes the 2 spot so essential to have a high OBP guy in there, definitely not Jacque. Either Murton needs to be put there and allowed to stay there multiple games to find his stroke and see if he can get his patience back or Theriot. Even though Theriot doesn't seem to have a great swing right now, in a small sample time, he can take a walk, not to mention get Izturis out of the lineup so he can recollect himself. If that doesn't work then we just have to hope whoever is batting 5-6 gets hot, i.e. Barrett. Essentially Aram and Lee are our table setters at the moment.
  18. What about Thursday? Depends... it should be dry by the afternoon except for maybe a leftover snow shower or flurry, but temps will be right around 40 and with the wind, it'll feel like upper 20s. Not a nice day for baseball, and I guess it's possible that the game could get called b/c of cold, but there will be a chance to play Thursday afternoon if they choose to. Wednesday - not so much. What about Friday? I might be going to that game. I've been planning to go to the Friday game as well and have been checking in on it. Over Easter weekend I believe it was a high of 48 with a 40% chance of rain. When I looked earlier today there was no rain predicted. I am pretty pessimistic about the weather when I go see Cub games, especially in April but this time it looks like it will be ok, not ideal however.
  19. I feel like punching myself...Not anyone else because I feel like somehow as a Cubs fan I have not yet suffered enough.
  20. To extend the point made above I formally request the Cubs to immediately and effectively reduce the level of sucktitude that has resulted in 2 consecutive losses, thank you and God bless.
  21. According to Cubs.com, Zambrano will be. They're skipping Miller this time through the order. Didnt Lou say they werent going to skip? It's not fair for the 5th guy because he can go a week w/o pitching?? See why I'm confused? They are keeping Zambrano on 5 days rest correct? So he will pitch and Miller goes after him or is skipped all together?
