    In my opinion that would be a bigger choke than the '69 Cubs if they didn't make the playoffs. The Cubs didn't play great but the Mets were on fire for over 6 weeks that year. The Met's lead was what, something like 7.5 games on 9/12. And they've been taken to the woodshed by giving up bucketloads of runs to a terrible Nats lineup. Couldn't happen to a better team I say.

    With Big Z on the mound & the debacle in Florida, the Cubbies would have to be fired up. If we can't win tomorrow, we're in a world of hurt- even if we did make the playoffs.

    There was a lot of talk about limiting his innings, and I think he has passed the mark they were talking about. Perhaps the load is catching up with him. Plus there's a big difference between pitching against also-rans or a pennant contender with only 4 games left.

    We're the Cubs. Chances & reality are worlds apart. If we were to back into the playoffs & play like this, I can just imagine what Wrigley Field will be like. Boos galore.
