  1. There's no way to say for sure, but I what sort of effect Gene Clynes have on a guy like Greene. Based on what he has done for the plate patience of some of the other players it would be good to see the Cubs buy low and and acquire Greene and see what they can do with him. It would be a nice insurance policy as has been said.
  2. I remember reading somewhere earlier in the year that Vernon Wells was a possible player the Cubs might look into for to play centerfield. Given Edmonds' and Johnson's nagging injuries, would it make sense for the Cubs to look into acquiring Wells & Burnett via trade? Edmonds would then be the lefty power bat off the bench and get spot playing time along with Johnson. Burnett would be the final piece in the rotation we've seen rumored interest in. Payroll would obviously be the major consideration here. I don't think the Cubs would have to give up too much in terms of players given the payroll they'd be adding. I am just spitballin' with no real idea of Wells' contract situation is.
  3. ...and 2004 in my opinion, Vance. He had that team focusing on so many things other than playing baseball down the stretch. I was glad he landed on his feet, but I was extrememly glad he left. He probably stayed at least a half season too long if not more (I'm looking at you Jim Hendry) and that is what will probably contribute to the booing this week. Kind of like that person you dated just a little to long and in that time went from just not wanting to be with them to flat out hating them. Sorry to use that over-used analogy gang.
  4. My wife was excited to see the Cubs picked up Daughtry today. :D
  5. If the infield was indeed Roberts and DeRosa, wouldn't Roberts be better suited to play SS? Who do you guys think would have better range, arm etc? I thought that option was discussed on an earlier page of this thread but I can't remember. It has been so long I have since gotten married, had a child, started and quit 2 jobs so I'm not clear.
  6. Examine your zipper at Wrigley Field would be an interesting choice, but who exactly would be the sponsor? Viagra? Viagra Field where the wind is always blowing... :P
  7. Maybe the solution is Sears Park at Wrigleyville then. :) I totally see what you're saying, I just would think that somehow somewhere there will still be a reference to Wrigley in the name. It will probably be the name of the main concourse hotdog stand is all. It is just my humble opinion.
  8. Thanks for the welcome 69. I have been reading posts here since '04 so I feel like I know most of you in a way. Fun to finally get a post under my belt. I guess just killing time until I can listen to the first broadcast of the season today had me inspired to fianlly do it.
  9. Agreed, but isn't the full name of the stadium Oriole Park at Camden Yard? It is in that style that I am guessing could be the solution to naming Wrigley Field. XYZ Park at Wrigley Field. .
  10. Nevermind. I see someone had written that the Bears are no longer presented by Chase. I guess I need to cut back on the sauce before watcing Bears games from now on, I hadn't even noticed they stopped doing that. I think in the end Wrigley Field will have a name something like the Orioles have. It will have a corporate name at Wrigley Field. We shall see though.
  11. What arrangement did the Bears reach with Chase Bank? Could the Cubs work out a similar deal with potential corporate suitors? My guess is that Zell is looking above and beyond whatever Chase bank has arranged with presenting Bears games though. This question is brought to you by Advil...because this is all just a big headache.
