  1. This might not end well.. but then again, the Brewers and Cards have found ways to beat Hamels this year. Then again, when we beat ourselves like that... our chances don't look so hot.
  2. Kinda. This feels like the throwaway game since we have the advantage pretty much in the other 3. I feel the least confident in the Lilly/Myers match up. I have a feeling the Phillies will crush Lilly, and Myers is pitching well and it seem like always dominates the Cubs (he beat them when he wasn't beating anybody at the beginning of the year). Myers has horrible splits on the road.... on the contrary, Moyer has been much better on the road vs at home.
  3. Haven't heard of it.... my usual postgame hangouts are either GameDay...right down the street from GABP or the Hofbrauhaus over at Newport on the Levee... Excellent German beer and an incredible atmosphere.
  4. Yeah, but it's not like we're facing Webb/Doug Davis/Livan Hernandez like last year... They also have this guy named Adam Dunn who likes to hit baseballs out of Wrigley Field. The DBacks do scare me, make no mistake about it.
  5. Rockies started the day 6 behind the DBacks -- They'd still be 5 games out should they hold on to win. Nonetheless....very interesting development indeed!
  6. If anyone's planning on making the trip to Cincinnati for next weekend's series...just a little heads up for everyone... I was able to take full advantage of DBR's horrific season to buy tix for the entire series for WAY less than face value.... Friday's game got 2 tix in the mezzanine level for 17.50/per ticket including shipping and all fees... face value is 27.00 before shipping and fees. Saturday got 4 sun deck tix for 19.50/per ticket including shipping and all fees... face value is again 27.00 before shipping and fees. Sunday got 4 terrace outfield lowers for 15.00/per ticket including shipping and all fees.... face value is 24.00 before shipping and fees. Tickets can be had for as little as $3 to $5 per seat on StubHub for all three games... I've been going to Cincy on a yearly basis to watch the Cubs, and it's always been Wrigley Field SE.... but I have a feeling this year might be the most dominant force of Cubs fans in the Queen City that we've ever seen! PM me if any of you are heading down there...and perhaps we can plan a pre or post game NSBB meetup.
  7. Since there's no game thread for tomorrow's game, I figured I'd post here... Pittsburgh is due to receive quite a bit of rainfall during the day on Wednesday thanks to the remnants of TS Fay. Computer models range from .5" during the day on Wednesday to over an inch. There's a chance this game could start out dry, but conditions are likely to worsen as the day progresses. You hope that it gets in, regardless...because you'd hate to see this one get called. Neither team shares an off day through the end of the season... and while it would be highly unlikely that we'd need to play on the Monday following the end of the regular season...I just don't even want to have that be anything that resembles an option.
  8. At least Konerko's line is about the same then as it is now.. .229, 5HR 19 RBI
  9. In what is officially his first major league game. I think it also invalidates the fact that his first major league at-bat was a homerun (it's now a groundout). Lol that's awesome. I was watching this on Gameday, and freaked out when I didn't see a Cubs score on the other games.. Then I saw STL lose to CIN 4-3, and got happy... then I remembered that STL was off today and got confused again. Then I figured out that these were the scores of all the games on 4/28...and it all made sense to me.
  10. Luis Montanez, who now goes by Lou Montanez, singles in the go-ahead run for Baltimore, the road team in the 14th inning of a game at Camden Yards. Strange times indeed.
  11. I'd expect a rain delay in this one. Whether it happens at the beginning of the game or during the game is a different question... but should it happen during the game, the bullpen might be put to the test again. Cubs win, regardless.
  12. Geovany Soto. Just seemed like an appropriate time to type his name, for no reason other than he's awesome and I haven't gotten to do that much these days.
  13. There's no reason we should lose even one game to these morons. 2 out of 3 in this series is not ok. Umm. Wow. Given the circumstances of this game... it's not acceptable. When you have a 4-0 lead against a horrible horrible team, there is absolutely no excuse to lose. Yes, we have our two best pitchers going the next two days...we should be talking sweep, not 2 out of 3 in a best case scenario.
  14. There's no reason we should lose even one game to these morons. 2 out of 3 in this series is not ok.
  15. Awesome job you worthless piece of crap Howry.
  16. Because the game is no longer winnable
  17. As little faith as Lou has in Marquis, he has given him far too many chances for me to think that this is the start that'll push him over the edge. Enter Bob Howry. Wonderful
