Thats below average overall. Anyways your starting SSs in the majors all grade out as above average range for the most part, remember that. Yeah, I realize that SS usually have above average range and arm strength (referring to ML average). But a lot of them make a ton of stupid errors which really detracts from their overall value defensively. Wood won't get to as many balls as a lot of ML SS, but he doesn't make many mistakes with the balls he gets to (from what I've heard - defensive stats in the minors are next to worthless, IMO). But anyway, Wood's offense will more than overcome his below average/average play in the field, so it's not a huge issue, IMO. CPatt is a very bad comparison for Wood. He had hardly any time in the minors. Harvey never came close to putting up a decent BA (or OBP) in significant ABs. His skillset and eye at the plate are obviously no where near comparable to Wood's skillset. Wood posted a minor league BA of .285 (.353 OBP) even with his loopy swing and inability to zone the plate (both of those problems are very much teachable/learnable at the ML level). I can understand why some people aren't as high on BW as I am, but he seems like too good of an athlete with decent IsoD skills to worry about in the same manor as a Harvey/Patterson.
