  1. That is the funniest stuff I've ever heard on a Sox broadcast. Stupidity has found a new low.
  2. to be fair, a lot of #4 starters have the ninth-best WHIP among major league starters. by the way, of the 118 pitchers who have thrown 60 innings or more this year, 110 of them have gotten better run support than rich hill. And the Cubs have scored 29 runs in his last 13 starts. Great job losers. viewtopic.php?t=41729&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=240 3.22 ERA, 79 K, 29 BB, 1.04 WHIP in 89.1 IP Yeah, #4 starter. lmfao
  3. Seriously, you don't trade young quality pitching for position players in this market.
  4. Some genius was calling Hill a "#4 starter" in the game thread. Moran.
  5. DLee is the last player we should be looking to deal.
  6. Not true, he's had a lot of player failures. Spivey? Ponson? Unlike Hendry he's much more willing to experiment with several players at a position instead of paying top dollar for medicore talent. I was exaggerating when I said "all," but you can't deny that WJ flat out lucked into maybe the best hitter of this generation. It's pretty easy to have cash to throw around with a Pujols coming up from your system. I love some of his deals, don't get me wrong. Flat out steals, but it's not like Hendry hasn't pulled those off. I just don't see the vast difference in Hendry/WJ. They both target the types of players I absolutely loathe. Every once in a while they luck into some good moves or are handed premium talent (Prior, Wood, Pujols) by other people in the organization. Whether or not that talent stays healthy is a big factor in a team's success. Walt has had that. Hendry hasn't.
  7. OMG, Rich Hill is soooo predictable! 5 K through 4.0 innings.
  8. 3.22 ERA, 79 K, 29 BB, 1.04 WHIP in 89.1 IP Yeah, #4 starter.
  9. Hendry was two bits of luck from having a dynasty (Prior and Wood healthy). WJ targets some really crap players, but his gold mines have all panned out. There's some real luck in that. It's not like Pujols was a top draft pick (402nd overall). WJ is no genius. He's made a couple of good moves (so has Hendry), but he flat out lucked into his core player.
  10. I'd do everything I could to hang onto both. If one of them was dealt, you'd better get pitching in return. Pitchers don't grow on trees in today's market. You can pay out the behind or trade pitching for pitching. It's pretty rare to see position players get pitching in return - unless you're dealing a star. I'd deal Marshall if I was forced to. He has a lower ceiling and more of an injury history (even if the bulk of those injuries were fluke injuries).
  11. Lou did take responsibility when talking about Barrett. He came out several times in the last week and a half and said that Barrett was being unfairly singled out and that the club loses as a team, and everybody makes mistakes including the manager. He also admitted to playing Barrett too much early in the season, not giving him the proper rest he needed to be most effective. Either Kaplan is mostly wrong (which I tend to believe from other things he has reported) or Lou has changed his ways quite a bit in the last couple of weeks. Lou's been routinely tossing players under the bus. Some fans are ok with this, but it's a piss poor people management technique. He's only recently changed his tune on Barrett with the media and surprise surprise, a trade has been in the works for a week. I don't hate Lou, but if he was the driving force behind getting rid of Barrett, he needs to be smacked. Way to sell low. Seriously, we got a backup catcher and a very raw prospect with a high ceiling. Whoopee! Not to mention the Cobs are paying the bulk of Barrett's remaining salary. Hendry got bent over. I doubt he wanted to deal low (Hughes and Hendry are Barrett lovers). Somebody else was the driving force behind this move. *cough* Lou *cough* Barrett has been one of the most accountable Cubs players from day one. He gets up in front of the media and takes it. There are a lot of guys in that clubhouse who run away when they're not doing well.
  12. If this is the team that is supposed to win now, I'd hate to see what Hendry could put on the field with a <$50MM payroll.
  13. Yea his D out in right earlier in the game was beautiful. Have you seen Jones play RF lately? He misplays just about every ball hit his way. Even the routine stuff is an adventure.
  14. He really should have had that 3rd walk too - swung at ball 4 twice. Still, it's nice to see some patience.
