  1. Lou sure is holding these guys accountable!!!
  2. http://cubdumb.blogspot.com/2007/06/barrett-is-not-in-hospital-for-busted.html I hope that's an untrue rumor.
  3. From Olney's blog (must be ESPN insider I think): http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=2890979&name=olney_buster
  4. I caught part of it. Z wasn't suspended, just fined. He takes full responsibility. I guess he had some family issues or something come up a few days ago - Barrett was the first guy to come and offer help. They're still friends.
  5. Lou hasn't said anything in the media that I haven't to the tv, but he's their manager, not a fan. He owes them a certain amount of respect in the public arena. Rip them a new one in private. Make them ride the bench. You don't accomplish anything positive by tossing guys under the bus in press conferences. Quite the opposite.
  6. If that's true, Z is dead to me. Barrett really didn't look pissed after the incident. He just seemed kind of stunned. And if that source is right, why was Lou making Barrett out like the bad guy? Buster Olney just reported on Baseball Tonight and his version of the story sounded similar to this one. Zambrano was yelling out from the clubhouse and Barrett went back in to talk to him and Zambrano attacked him a 2nd time. WTF is up with Lou putting all the blame on Barrett for? Seriously, it doesn't sound like he went and "hunted" Z down. Lou is rapidly becoming my least favorite Cubs manager ever. And I loved the guy in the early going.
  7. Who were the people raving about Lou holding players accountable? Nice one, guys. There's a big difference between holding a guy accountable and throwing them under the bus in press conferences.
  8. Why would this thread be locked? Z is almost certainly hurt. He probably has a high tolerance for pain, plus with millions at stake he naturally wants to give the impression of being a completely healthy pitcher. Because of the 6 other topics about this already. viewtopic.php?t=40804 viewtopic.php?t=40702 viewtopic.php?t=40693 viewtopic.php?t=36172 viewtopic.php?t=40455 That's only 5.

  10. Wasn't there an incident with Murton earlier this year where Zambrano showed him up? I can't recall what exactly happened, but I do vaguely remember something taking place. Z had to apologize for showing up Murt last year, IIRC.
  11. Hopefully the bus is ok.
  12. I like when Lou tosses players under the bus. Good times.
  13. How about getting someone who can manage a bullpen while you're at it, Lou.
  14. If Z left w/o permission, he should be traded. You don't ever walk out on your team.
  15. I guess there was a reason why Z needed Blanco to be his personal catcher. Geez. Z is an idiot. I got $20 on Barrett in the rematch.
  16. AA flame out? Yeh right. http://www.minorleagueball.com/story/2007/5/25/155416/658#commenttop Not that Sickels is a god, but... Worst case is a AAA flameout...by a guy who isn't in love with Vitters at all. I'm sure people didn't think Montanez and Harvey (top 10 picks) would be complete busts either. Come on, doesn't this just have all the signs of a bust? -Cubs history of drafting high school hitters - not good -Vitters isn't known for having particularly strong plate discipline -Cubs pass up a low-risk position player with good patience Wilken is pretty much 50/50 historically on taking college/HS players. He doesn't have issues identifying HS players with talent. He's the one signing off on the pick, not the dopes in the past. It's a huge difference. Wells, Young, Rios (that pick was very much against popular choice), Hudson, Gibbons, the list is long and distinguished. He also wanted Nomar, but was overruled. That worked out well. Rios wasn't known for his plate discipline either. Low risk? Catching with that big of a body is going to wear on the knees. Once those go, so does a lot of your power. He's not "low risk." I like Wieters, but he's not the best player available at 3, especially with his monetary/contract demands. He's not Gordon or Tex. Paying out the backside for him is silly. We can better use that money in the later rounds going over slot.
  17. Oh, I'm sure they're having another high-level meeting to see about implementing those changes and maybe hiring me and giving me a hefty bonus and... Well, you get it. It might well be obvious, but not to those in charge, apparently. Thanks for the dicussion. If you were overweight and pitched left handed they'd hire you. It's not too late. Pack on the pounds and get that arm in shape.
  18. lmao I wonder how Hendry is going to take those comments.
  19. Yeah, I want a DH. Colvin rules.
  20. Sickels sucks, but it's not like he's clueless. Seriously, are you going to pitch a fit if Vitters is taken 3rd? All you Vitters haters had better back the F off when he's actually in the system. You know they'll all come out in droves once whoever is selected.
  21. 1. Vitters 2. Moustakas 3. Heyward 4. Dominguez 5. Burgess Vitters army? Where are they? Vitters is sweet. His swing is awesome. Short, compact. Good command of the strikezone. Good plate discipline. People ragging on his fielding need to understand that he hasn't been concentrating on that portion of his game. He can rake foul pole to foul pole. 30+ HR power? Maybe more like 25. So what. Vitters for homecoming king!!!
  22. It'll be interesting to see how your draft prospects turn out, draft god.
