  1. I can't be the only person that things Soto is definitely the #1 choice for MVP of the team.
  2. Whoa, my seven minute walk back to my house turned a two out no one on inning into a bases loaded one? What the hell did Marquis do?
  3. Wait, they're seriously moving Wainwright back to closer? LOL
  4. Side note, I heard John Danks talk for the first time last night. He has a huge lisp.
  5. I'm really surprised that none of you think he has a chance. I think the fact that voters will judge him in comparison to other leadoff hitters of his era is going to give him a huge boost. Also, if he was to be a key part of a Cubs World Series team, I think he'd have his chances raised enormously.
  6. Honestly, the Phillies and Brewers are the only teams that I think could possibly beat the Cubs in the playoffs. If we somehow avoided playing either, I'd order World Series tickets before the NLDS.
  7. One of my all-time favorite games. I was at that one. Good times.
  8. I'd love it because we'd be going to the World Series.
  9. The question is not whether he deserves to be. It's pretty clear he probably won't deserve it. However, he's played most of his career in New York and Chicago. He's been to seven All Star games and will probably go to a few more. He'll probably finish with over 400 career home runs. And the biggest thing he has going for him is that the voters will consider his accomplishments in comparison to other leadoff hitters. He'll be considered one of the best leadoff hitters of all time even though he doesn't really fit the spot. So, I'm going to say yes, he'll be a Hall of Famer when all is said and done. He shouldn't be, but he will.
  10. I challenge anyone to find a more fun inning that early in the game in the past five years or so.
  11. He really should take over at short right away. And God, I remember how much Cards fans ranted about the awesomeness of Brendan Ryan. Funny how that's turned out.
  12. I said this in the GT, but I'll say it again... we sure got bad luck with Soriano's injuries, because he had never missed significant time before last year. I believe 2007 was his first career DL trip. Don't hold your breath. Does he even post here anymore? I haven't seen too much of him outside of the Roberts thread.
  13. LOL To be fair, Dempster was horrendous in 06.
  14. I get the feeling you don't like Lee too much.
  15. how many people really stuck with that team? i remember game threads that were 2 or 3 pages long, mostly fred doing play by play for himself. they were a complete waste of time to follow (except on rich hill days). I'll say one thing, it was a lot less stressful to watch the team at the end of 2006. Losing was expected. If they won, it was gravy. But if they blew a 5 run lead, it wasn't really a big deal because you hated pretty much everyone on the roster.
  16. Does Cooper ever pull his pitchers for pinch hitters?
  17. What's the question and who is Ryan O'Malley? How can you not remember the great Ryan O'Malley?
  18. Break this thing even more wide open, Geo. How about career grand slam #1?
  19. Given what I've seen of him, and some of the things I've heard him say, I think Cecil Cooper just might be a worse manager than Dusty. i didn't think that was possible. IIRC, he had Berkman lay down a sac bunt this year. It was on FJM some time ago.
  20. Given what I've seen of him, and some of the things I've heard him say, I think Cecil Cooper just might be a worse manager than Dusty.
  21. Lou seems to have complete faith in Cotts.
