Okay, to expand on what I said earlier about Greene... Bruce Levine apparently reported this was the original deal: Jones, Izturis, Barrett, cash, for Greene, Bowen If that was the original deal, it's good simply because of how much dead weight we would have lost.

Why would we want Greene? We already have SS who can't hit. At least Greene hits for power and plays some legitimately good defense.

the "including children" part is hysterically bad. I am crying over here. That's pretty much what bothered me the most. I mean, "think about the children" is just about the worst line you can ever use. And as a sports journalist? Christ.

It all began at U.S. Cellular Field, where it wasn't enough for him to curse at A.J. Pierzynski or even to bump him in the chest after a play at home plate -- no, Barrett had to pop him right in the face, in front of nearly 40,000 Chicago baseball fans, including children. What a bunch of bullplop journalism.

How much was Barrett making? This could be to free up money for a Z deal.

If this clears the way to become a Soto/Bowen pairing this year (and soon) the chances of this being a good deal go way up. That'd make me much happier.

Don't forget the Nomar deal. Granted, it didn't work out, but that looked like one of the best trades in years and years.
