  1. If Z leaves, they'd absolutely have to go for someone from the next tier to replace him. Buehrle fits that billing. Didn't Buehrle say that the cubs are the last team that he wants to play for? No idea, but money talks.

  3. I literally came to ask the exact same thing. I want it as my background.
  4. with floyd playing how he is, i dont think murton has a place in the OF Agreed. I think Murton's best asset to the Cubs is his trade value at this point.
  5. I enjoy BCB, I really do. However, I don't know what sources Al has that really makes him privy to any such information.
  6. I'm actually close to banking on Gagne being a Cub.
  7. The word on the radio is that Dempster won't get his job back. I can't disagree. Marmol is terrific.
  8. This series has letdown written all over it. Let's see if these bunch of Cubs can do what it takes to be a playoff team and take out the trash. Don't suck Cubs!
  9. Just got back. Nothing to say except... beautiful.
  10. Trust me, I'm not advocating it, but doesn't it seem like something Hendry would do? He's a big name player who plays spectacular defense and (most of the time) puts up a pretty high batting average with just about no power. With how the Giants are struggling, I can't imagine they wouldn't be looking to deal him to a contender, and Hendry just might be stupid enough to budge. He's currently putting up a line of .238/.291/.303. Yeah, that's not his batting average by month. This will be Hendry's big move. I can smell it.
  11. Gah, Scott Eyre would've made sense. Say he's too fat to stand up.
  12. Man oh man, an epic at bat went from terrible pretty dang quickly.
  13. I've been out most of the day, and jeeze... talk about the one thing that couldn't happen. It's really inexcusable on Marshall's part to have an outing like this. Now just leave Scott Eyre in for the rest of the game and cut him when it's over.
  14. It would be remarkably stupid to trade a solid reliever who will be under our control for years for a solid reliever who will be a free agent next year. Sounds like a perfect reason for the Cubs to do it.
  15. The Cubs make no sense. Gah. They are just swapping two similar pitchers-one who is fresh and can pitch today for one who would be unavailable to pitch today. It's the unfortunate consequence of being a relief pitcher sometimes-if Hill goes a couple more innings yesterday, Petrick is probably not being sent to the minor leagues today. I get the logic of the move completely, but they want a 12 man staff. They just need to bite the bullet and DFA Izturis or Jones. The next ten days will be important, and I would've liked to have Petrick's arm in the pen for them.
  16. do you really think trading the last man off the bench that gets one ab every three days is going to upset a winning streak? come on. Probably not, but why take the chance and tinker with something when it's going great? So it can go even better.
  17. I'm genuinely optimistic it's either Jones or Izturis.
  18. Only if you don't have to give up much, Jimbo. Otherwise, we have more important things to deal with.
  19. While I think an upgrade at shortstop or catcher would be ideal, a thumper in right seems a lot more realistic as far as trading options go.
  20. Did anyone see the montage thing that sports center made for this game? It was pretty dang cool.
