  1. .320, .400, in BA and OBP That's just frigging laughable. The highest batting average Theriot has ever put up at any level (AA in this case) over a full season is .304. The highest OBP? .367 in high A ball. So what in the blue hell is going to make a 27 year old suddenly become a .400 OBP guy in the majors when he didn't even come close to that in the minors? Murton won't do it either, but I'm not willing to laugh you out of the building for suggesting that.
  2. I said he's my favorite, and he is good he just needs more playing time, something cedeno had plenty of last year and still sucked while murt led the team in BA Yeah, and then Murt completely blew during 2007 in the majors. Why does he get room for aches and pains and Cedeno doesn't? And honestly, how good do you think Theriot and Murton can be? I wanna hear this. good to close to great starters, neither will be great. i never made the aches argument for Murt. What in the blue hell has Theriot done to make you think that? Murton I can understand, kinda. Theriot though. Tell me why he's going to be anything more than a decent utility player. Tell me why he didn't get a regular stay in the majors until his age 27 season.

  4. He's not using logic for anything else, why would he use it with Murton? This has got to be someone on an alternate account. It's gotta be. It's a joke.
  5. No not at all. K, here's where you try to make an argument to defend that instead of just saying it. After you make it, I'll respond by tearing it apart with common sense.
  6. Okay then, I must be missing some key component of your argument, because I really don't follow. Theriot is 27. History shows that 27 year olds aren't going to get all that much better. Theriot has shown he's a solid utility player and 25th man who can play a few positions and draw walks when they're given to him, but he's really not a good hitter. Cedeno is 24. He's not at his peak. He's shown he can play stellar defense and there's quite a bit of hope that he can improve his offense given his age. So, Cedeno is the better defender with more potential. Theriot is what he is, a pretty bad hitter. Cedeno is probably going to be a bad hitter to, but at least there's a chance he'll improve. Theriot is what he is. To discount their age difference because it's "only three years" is asininely stupid.
  7. No, all of you do. I didn't even see this. You can't be serious. Is this a joke poster? Yes, but I wouldn't call myself dumb either, but yes this is definitely a joke. So you... are joking?
  8. No, all of you do. I didn't even see this. You can't be serious. Is this a joke poster? Anyways... Theriot, Cedeno, and Izturis all look to be pretty bad hitters at the major league level. Cedeno plays the best defense of the three and has the highest ceiling. It's really a no brainer.
  9. I wouldn't pretend that, but he's definitely got a solid chance of outperforming what the Cubs have gotten out of SS so far this year. Yeah, it's not like we're getting great production out of the SS position anyway. At this point it's worth giving Ronny another shot. I'm all for a shot for Cedeno, I just don't expect much. I expect more than we're getting out of Theriot or Izturis. I'd hold up on the Theriot part, but I won't say that the talent isn't there in both, just Theriot been able to translate talent to well reality. 266/323/346 really isn't a great translation. I like Theriot...but let's not pretend he's really that good; he's not. He's young, he will have growing pains, that is inevitable but Cedeno didn't have growing pains he just plain sucked. Let me get this straight....Cedeno who is 27 is experiencing growing pains while Cedeno who played in the majors last season at only 22 just sucked. Would you like to guess what Theriot was doing when he was 22? How about hitting .252/335/313 in the midwest league. So, if Cedeno sucked at 22, Theriot was sub-suckage. You might want to quit now. What is Cedeno's career ML BA? Not Good. What does that have to do with anything? Theriot wasn't even good enough to be in AAA when he he was Cedeno's age. Listen, it's obvious you like scrappy players like Murt and Theriot, but you're making some pretty ridiculous arguments. Theriot at 27 gets time for growing pains while the 24 year old Cedeno just sucks?
  10. I was ready to make him the closer before tonight. Forget the interim tag.
  11. Definitely gotta win a game like this. Don't suck Cubs!
  12. Are you frigging kidding me Howry? This is bush.
  13. Why in the world would you use Howry in this situation?
  14. deal. if you won't pretend that theriot's success for one month will definitely translate to him being good for the rest of the season. Trust me, I fell off the Theriot bandwagon a month ago. I'm just saying that there's a pretty good chance that when and if Cedeno comes up he'll be as awful as he's been the rest of his brief career in the majors.
  15. D-Lee's OPS+ is currently 141. Gracey posted an OPS+ better than that a grand total of one time in his career. ...come. the. heck. on.
  16. Jacque doesn't look like he even cares anymore.
  17. Seconded. Eyre is the guy here. Let him get some confidence.
  18. Damian Miller with a 7 RBI game and 2 homers. Are you kidding me?
  19. Youpi! http://www.aljfkds.com/pics/sanjuan/youpi%202.jpg
  20. We could really use two more innings, Tedford.
  21. We're up by seven, Lilly. No frigging walks.
