  1. Theriot swung at ball four twice that at bat. Ick.
  2. Francis has horrible control right now. This has got to be the third or fourth full count already.
  3. I think this sentiment is overrated .179/.210/.256 .139/.151/.222 .167/.250/.278 Last 3 years. Yeah, Marquis hasn't been much of a hitter lately. He's had one good year (2005).
  4. Lineup: LF Soriano CF Fukudome 1B Lee RF Dunn 3B Ramirez C Soto 2B DeRosa SS Cedeno
  5. John Danks is pitching tonight for the Sox. Unlike Gavin Floyd, whose K:BB ratio is horrifyingly scary, Danks looks like he's legit. His ERA+ sits at 143 through 57 IP spanning 10 starts. His WHIP is right around 1.20. He's struck out 42 while walking only 17. Kid's for real.
  6. Yeah, I think Cabrera's chances of resigning with the Sox are around zero.
  7. Soto is more deserving. He's the only position player on our team that deserves to start the ASG. (edit for poor wording) Aramis deserves a spot (but he won't get it). EDIT: I see now that you said start. Then yeah, you're right. My bad.
  8. Are they though? We've seen what the Diamondbacks can do, and it's quite a bit. I didn't buy into the Dodgers hype during the preseason and it makes even less sense now. The offense isn't very good even when it's healthy. The pitching staff is good, but not outstanding. I think they could easily fall quite a ways behind Arizona by the trading deadline.
  9. Some combination of the four, not all four. What about Ceda and Cedeno?
  10. Let's assume for the moment the Dodgers fall out of contention (and it looks like they might) and put Lowe on the market. In those years he pitched 222, 218, and 199.1 innings. He's a workhorse, he gets ground balls, and he maintains a K:BB ratio between 2:1 and 3:1 pretty consistently. That said, he's 35 and having a pretty rough year so far. I've been wanting Lowe on the Cubs for a long time. What do you guys think it would take? A package with some combination of Ceda, Marshall, Gallagher, and Cedeno perhaps? Certainly not someone like Pie.
  11. Soto will have a 3 day rest considering the Cubs have a day off after the all star break. The 4th day, he'll squat for 4 innings and get 2 ABs. I don't see what the big deal is. What he said. I'd hate for Soto to lose out on something that I'm sure would be an absolute thrill for him because his own fanbase was voting against him.
  12. Awesome post. You're a credit to this community. Seriously, if you won't even try to come up with anything remotely insightful to say why can't you just stay out of the thread? Way too many of your posts are nothing but empty insults, and many of the others are just plain stupid. People here, including myself, show a hell of a lot more civility towards you than you display to others. Other people have disagreed respectfully and supported their arguments, but not you. Just leave the thread if you can't add anything. Better yet, just leave. I'm all for keeping the boards free of needless insults, but I'm not sure what you were expecting in response to bringing up this absurd idea multiple times.
  13. I had no idea Francis had been so bad this year. He's way too good for those numbers.
  14. I was supposed to go to the game tonight, but my stupid best friend wanted to go to a day game (we're going Friday). :(
  15. Hey, Fontenot with a double. I hope people here stop hating him for no particular reason.
  16. Why would you make yourself drink Old Style?
  17. Come the heck on Howry. I want to like you like I did last year.
  18. Despite criticizing people for saying this earlier, I'm confident to say "game over" despite the fact that the runner on 1st hasn't even crossed the plate yet.
  19. Can't recall offhand, but with the home record and number of extra-innings played, I'd imagine there was a free baseball win at home. Actually I'm pretty sure there hasn't been. Howry does not inspire any confidence here.
