haha I'm sorry. I had the numbers all wrong. I'll be the first to admit it. No reason to be so hostile. Although I will say there's a difference between a sellout at Wrigley and Sox Park. All the tickets are sold at Wrigley, but that doesn't mean everyone shows up. Sox Park relies on about 5,000 walkups to sell out a game, so they usually are completely sold out (that is, when they do sell out). But sorry guys, I'm done. I thought I'd give the real Cub fans a chance, and this is how I'm greeted. I tried to be nice but you've all backed up a lot of Cub fan stereotypes. I didn't even start this argument in the first place. I don't want to get nasty on a Cub fan board, because that's stupid. And save the "you'll be missed" posts. See you in the playoffs! Oh wait...
Since when? Good question JR. Maybe it happened in that parallel universe where Ozzie is a classy, open-minded genius. According to the figures I have, the Cubs have outsold the world champs by 35,849...in 4 less games. The Cubs average about 4 thousand more per game. stats My fault. I mean they will outsell them by season's end. But that's because of the playoffs, so it's not really fair to compare. My season ticket rep said the Sox have sold 2.6 million so far, and they're guaranteed to break 3 mil for the first time in the new park's history. Last year I thought I read the Cubs sold 2.7 mil.
What was it he said about Mariotti again? Isolated incident, probably. Wait, was there something about Magglio? Probably just twice. Huh? ARod and Nomar too? If you think Ozzie was insinuating that Jay was gay, you are mistaken. This subject has been beaten to death, so I find it hard to believe people still think Ozzie was calling him gay. It's a word people use nowadays. It doesn't even mean gay anymore. The people who were the LEAST offended by this was the gay community. Players, coaches, and White Sox fans all love the guy. It's the fans of every other team that seem to hate him. Must be ring envy. Go figure.
Time for a more original name for the Sox. Boston or Chicago? When the Tribune started calling the White Stockings the White "Sox", the Red Sox were still called the Pilgrims. I meant Chicago.
Yeah, he's really spoiled playing in that half-empty, historic, vibrant baseball mecca known as the Cell. Speaking of which, have I missed 2006's Mullet Night? The Sox have sold more tickets thant he Cubs this season. The Sox had the 2nd most wins in the 90's and a World Series championship team playing in Sox Park. Mullet night is on Friday actually. I've never been, but it sounds like a fun time. I'm not going to troll, but if you want to rip on the Sox you need to find some better ways than that. I'm just here to talk baseball.
Ozzie is an uncouth, abrasive, obnoxious, bigoted, foul-mouthed idiot. Which is understandable. Uncouth, possibly. Abrasive, most definitely. Obnoxious? Not so much. Bigoted, no way. Foul mouthed, of course. Idiot? Far from it.
Williams says he isn't dealing anyone on his major league roster and Fields & Sweeney are untouchable. I can't see him dealing McCarthy either. Basically, he would deal Garcia or Vazquez in a second to put McCarthy in the rotation even though he said he wouldn't. Then again, that's what they said about Jeremy Reed and Joe Borchard. My question to you guys: why keep patching together a team hoping it works? Why not clear house and start over?
As much as I dislike the Cubs (not trolling, just stating a fact), they are not the laughing stock of sports. The Hawks and Knicks are much worse. I don't count Tampa Bay because at least they are in a small market.
Correct, I believe he said that after the millionth reporter asked if the Cubs/Sox series was more important than any other series. Of course it isn't, so he said F the Cubs. Ozzie rips on Wrigley Field, which is understandable. Not the Cubs.
I'd say the Angels were the 2nd best team last year, but the Astros were damn good. That series could of easily been a 4 game sweep for the other guys.
According to Don Cooper, innings pitched has nothing to do with it. The strike zone has changed this year (he used Greg Maddux as an example) and his pitchers just aren't adjusting. Poor location is the reason they are struggling.
