  1. sosa had a couple more knocks today. a single off haren and a double off street
  2. i called burgess in like last june.
  3. Guzman K'd in the low 7s in A ball. Zambrano didnt K as many, 5.75 but he was 18 and didn't throw as hard as he does now. Thats a little different than Samardzija's 5.10 last season. Im not saying he cant, im just worried
  4. if you cant K low A and college hitters, i dont care if you give up a groundball every time, youre going to suck. also GB rates are inflated in the lower minors, keep that in mind. I also dont seem to remember the splits indicating he was much of a groundball pitcher at all.
  5. man i love shilling. i dont think someone posted it, but its entertaining nonetheless. http://38pitches.com/
  6. call me negative but hes getting guys out because hitters are behind the pitchers and he has plus velocity. come time for the season that wont happen and he still hasnt made guys swing and miss at all.
  7. man if cotts is our five over guzman, i dont know what to say about how much of a disaster this organization is
  8. anyone know whose got the non-hill ss game? is juan mateo gonna grace us with a start?
  9. him quitting football makes a significant difference, but he still hasnt struck out anybody
  10. Sosa has two more hits and another home run today
  11. We have three competing groups. We must resolve this
  12. Meaning? I'm aware of the small sample size but how often do you continue to steal with him? What if he gets thrown out the next time and is now 2-5? When is the sample the correct size? oh lord. Assume you have some wierd coin where the chances of it landing on heads is 70% and the chances of it landing on tails are 30%. Assume you flip it 4 times, the probability of that coin landing on heads two times or less is over 34%. That's one in three. The chances of it going two for five is still about 1 in 8. Those are pretty high. However, at the point after the fourth flip, the FIRST FOUR EVENTS HAVE NO IMPACT ON THE NEXT ONE. of course stealing bases is not done in a vacuum probability matter, until the sample size is pretty very large, we're talking at least 25-30. In four attempts, what if two of them were in one game off say Carlos Zambrano (who has a great slidestep) and Hank White (who has a strong arm). Theres also a belief that if you play more and run more, you're going to get better, at BP they call playing more means more production the Jeremy Giambi effect. If you're flipping coins you have no adverse effects correct? I don't think you're analogy works here. then you missed the point of my entire post.

  14. hes gotta be pushing thirty five
  15. ok ive been proctoring an exam all afternoon. i dont feel like reading all twenty something pages. give me the important information plz
  16. see if Alex Gordon or Ian Kinsler are on waivers. If so pick them up. If Gordon is there, then dump Pierre and Aramis and turn him into a very nice outfielder, Bay Sizemore etc. If Kinsler is there, dump Weeks and Pierre off for the best OF you can get. IF neither are there, just dump Pierre for the best OF you can get that knows how to swing a bat.
  17. 0/10; you drafted Jason Marquis and Juan Pierre! But seriously you're going to have some power issues when you have more than three guys won won't crack 20 jacks. One of them won't even crack five.
  18. 52.4% For your sake, I assumed Michael Cuddyer was in the utility spot, not Ryan Freel. Offensively your biggest strength is your batting average, and you might want to try to trade say Miguel Tejada for a midrange SS and a powerful OF. You can take the hit in BA because it's going to help you in R, HR, RBI and SB. Pitching as other people have said, it looks solid but you're about 1 SP short of hitting the limit in roto leagues. If this is an h2h league, you need more pitching. You could also look for some cheap saves. Basically the 52.4% score I gave you means you're better than 52.4% of the teams out there. anyways here's a loaded team: C - Brian McCann 1B - Albert Pujols 2B - Ian Kinsler 3B - Alex Gordon SS - Troy Glaus OF - Grady Sizemore OF - Jason Bay OF - Coco Crisp UT - Jim THome SP - Ben Sheets SP - Felix Hernandez SP - Scott Kazmir SP - Rich Harden SP - Rich Hill SP - David Bush SP - Adam Wainwright SP - Kelvim Escobar RP - Brad Lidge RP - Salomon Torres RP - Joe Borowski RP - Jon Broxton Using the same method that got me your 52.4% score, this team got a 99.8%.
  19. I can't understand why the hell some of you are comparing to how his velocity progressed last season. In case I needed to remind you, Prior following the path he took last season wasn't exactly useful.
  20. Yeah, he had a relief appearance. How did he throw 1.1 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 0 K/0 BB. Not sure how he sounded though. I didn't get the impression Guzman was very impressive. Just gave up the one triple. But had a couple of batters where he got up 0-2 or 1-2, and still ended up with long 8-pitch type AB's, couldn't do something that would either force an easy groundout or a K. iirc his stuff was great he just didnt have fine control or command
  21. yeah things arent looking good. angel is probably a lot better than prior right now
  22. Can someone pinch me, I must be dreaming that Prior is in this threads subject line.
  23. Aramis Ramirez - Errormis. ARam Derrek Lee - Personally I hate D-Lee, Rodan. Ryan Theriot - The Riot Mark DeRosa - None Michael Barrett - I call him MB Matt Murton - Fire Crotch Hank White - Hank White Carlos Zambrano - Z or Big Z Ryan Dempster - Demp Alfonso Soriano - Soriano Jacque Jones - Jockstrap Lou Piniella - Sweet Lou Izturis - Crap Ted Lilly - None Jason Marquis - Jason Mar[insert something starting with a q that ends with an f] Kerry Wood - Woody or KW
  24. Rice Owls IP H R ER BB SO AB BF ----------------------------------------------- Joe Savery.......... 3.1 3 3 3 4 3 12 17
