  1. Resto-bomb #21 is a 3-run blast to make it 6-0 I-Cubs. Augie (walk) and Pie (double) scored on the HR.
  2. Guzman's final line: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 4-11 GO-FO, 91-60, PO More balls in the air tonight, but a very nice start after his short one last time out.
  3. Resto-bomb. #20 on the season. His OPS is still above .900 and he's still in AAA. It's a shame he's not smaller and faster... And Micah crushes an 0-2 pitch for his 11th. The I-Cubs go back-to-back!
  4. Guzman with a 10-pitch 7th. A groundout, flyout, and a lineout to center.
  5. Angel has thrown 84 pitches through those 6 innings, so we'll see how long he goes after only throwing an inning last time out.
  6. His W/9 rate was 3.81 in July, the highest of the season, but it's hard to get any sense of how he's progressed since he's made two trips to the majors (one to sit in the bullpen) and hasn't really gotten into any rhythm yet as a starter. That's still the case with the Cubs idiotically deciding to pull Angel from his last start after an inning so he could theoretically be ready to go to Chicago if need be. 2 more Ks for Guzman has he cruises through a 1-2-3 6th.
  7. It's been what, 6 games since a win? Hopefully they can at least take down KC in the USOC game.
  8. Lines in progress: Guzman - 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB (7-pitch walk), 4 K, 3-8 GO-FO, 74-47 Veal - 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K, 6-5 GO-FO Veal's ERA is down to 1.04.
  9. You saw correct, but they just replaced his name with Joel Santo.
  10. Veal with just 2 singles allowed through 5. He has struck out 5 with a 6-3 GO-FO and added a pickoff. Guzman has struck out 4 with no walks and 3 singles through 3. Augie just hit his 2nd HR of the season for the first run of the game. Wade Miller's final line: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K
  11. Would've been nice if he could have gotten a shot off. This'll be a nice win for the MLS.
  12. According to Cubs.com, the Cubs plan on sending two class A players to the Hawaiian League this year.
  13. Pretty good before that hanging 0-2 curve to Duke. A lot of ground balls. Not great control, but decent movement and velocity on his fastball.
  14. Really? Pat and Ron said that Dusty came out to argue-at least that's what I thought I heard. Unless I turned away and missed it, but I didn't see anyone come out. But Cedeno did have the bag when he got the ball.
  15. He was out and yet there's absolutely no argument from the bench.

Yeah. That was more of a bump than a hit by Urlacher. I'm not even sure that Brown touched Benson at all, let alone made significant contact.
  17. Ranked or not... http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2006-08/24728933.jpg
  18. The Stones are probably the better band, but I enjoy the Who more.

ChicagoBears.com had a story about how Clark isn't as fat or slow anymore. Almost in those words, too...and it was the main story.

I realize that the NFL is very different...but I'd like to see a little of that creep into the Cubs philosophy. Hendry would determine his QB based on who had the best 4th quarters.
  21. I can ask for a leadoff hitter who can at least work the count beyond seeing 2-3 pitches and have an on-base percentage of at least .350. Pierre should have his OBP above .350 by the end of the year. There isnt really any leadoff hitter on the FA market. They are really hard to find. So from saying that, I expect to see Pierre in CF next year, and I dont have a problem with that. Let's say he finishes with 650 ABs (will likely be a tad higher). With a .327 OBP through 451 ABs, he'll need a .402 OBP the rest of the way just to finish at .350. Not going to happen. I'd expect it to finish somewhere between .320 and .330 thanks to his July numbers.
  22. We can ask for a centerfielder who, to put it bluntly, doesn't suck at the plate. He's also not very good defensively, leaving him with little to offer any big league team.
  23. His first two months were worthy of note, as well. His July production (.345/.380/.496) brought his numbers up to .277/.324/.376. Still quite bad. I don't expect those to improve much the rest of the way.
  24. This getting used to second base talk is sickening.
