Just a bad decision on the pick. It looked like he had Berrian coming across short and then another receiver open over the middle.

He missed an open man on the 3rd down of the last possession, but before he had a couple of passes juuuust off target. The past few have looked pretty nice, though. But yeesh, get rid of the football. Bad call by the official, but still.

Can they please finish plays? Please?

I think I'm falling in love with Rashied Davis!

Make a freakin' tackle! Come on.
  6. Jon

Grossman has looked much better so far.

Nice start by the defense so far. Some sloppy tackling on that 3rd down run, though.
  8. you just provided the most compelling reason I've heard for his promotion. I'm still waiting for him to call Theriot "The Riot" Actually, I believe he has. I recall him saying "The Riot" twice within a minute the last time Theriot was up.

    URLACHER for the pick six!
  10. Marmol's sore bicep = Dusty pushing Zambrano through at least 8 innings.

Looks rather misty at Soldier Field, but I sure love seeing those home uniforms! Neither Vasher (back) nor Mushin (minor hip flexor) will play tonight. Davis will get more snaps. Tomlinson is not going to play tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing Castillo and SD's 3-4 defense since NU will be going to a 3-4 full-time in a couple of years.
  12. Yeah, Stone has really lost it. Or maybe he's never had it since he went into sports radio. With how much he's in favor of sacrificing offense for defense, he's turning into Hendry. What are Steve's thoughts on batting with RISP?
  13. Unlike those guys, though, Izturis has never really produced at any point in his professional career. He had a decent season in advanced A ball (.308/.340/.422) at the age of 19, but that was it. I'm not sure why he skipped AA, but he has a career .271/.311/.351 line in 2212 minor league ABs. I'd imagine his numbers will improve a bit, but I don't see him becoming a hitter that I'd actually want in the lineup.

That bites, but it probably wouldn't be a great idea. 40% chance of t-storms late this evening and tonight. It's still early, though.
  15. Sarcasm or not, I'm in the camp of in any sport, defense wins championships. Defense in football, basketball, soccer, etc. means preventing the other team from scoring. In baseball, that's overwhelmingly the task of the pitching staff, not the guys behind them. Defense in baseball doesn't compare to defense in other sports and is a relatively small factor in keeping the other team from crossing home.
  16. He's also hitting .313/.417/.563 against lefties this season in 80 ABs. It's just a shame that Jim and Dusty are on a production-free diet this season.
  17. Matulia walks to force in a run, Colvin hits a sac fly, Lansford hits a sac fly, and Canzler flies out to end the inning. 5-1 Hawks.
  18. I got my season tickets via UPS on Tuesday. I had been checking the front door about every 15 minutes and they didn't come until about 6 in the evening. Regardless, I'm soooo psyched. And Meet the Team night is on Sunday. Oh, and on a related note, does anyone know of a way to get just a single ESPNU game? I don't really want to pay $20 for a week of the online ESPN Gameplan, especially if I don't know whether or not it'll be blacked out.
  19. The Cubs are still terrible (understatement) against lefties. They're dead last in the NL with a .691 OPS (.240/.305/.385). Houston is 3rd.
  20. Sounds like Dusty has a little school girl crush on Miller. Angel Guzman was so 2003.
  21. I really hate this organization.
  22. Restovich needs to show he can produce at AAA like that Pagan fellow.
  23. Amazingly, Zambrano has still throw fewer pitches per start than Prior did in '03.
  24. It's not even tough work to expose dusty for the idiot that he is. I wonder if he even realizes how dumb he is. Nobody's going to realize that when they're getting paid $4 million.
  25. It's okay. Dusty talks to Z in Spanish.
