  1. Wake Forest doing their best to blow the game. They had a fumble returned all the way for a TD on a FG attempt that would have put WF up 20-3. And now they just fumbled in their own territory.
  2. Kafka told my buddy and I (in the Sargent dining hall) that Fitz said that he really doesn't want to risk him tearing anything further and potentially losing him for the season. And CJ's not 100% either, so it may be more of the same. Yeah, Fitz said that it looks like we'll have 3 QBs ready to go for the Big Ten home opener. Hopefully one more week of practice for CJ will be enough. Having someone who can throw will mean that Sutton and Jordan can actually get the ball. Of course, with this offensive line, someone like Bacher may not last a full game. But wasting two Big Ten games in which you could really use to be getting Kafka or Bacher work hurts.
  3. That's the last nail. 27-9. And another game wasted by not being able to give Kafka or Bacher experience.
  4. Brewer showing that he can't throw downfield. I mean again. After the punt, which Wisconsin was flagged for being offsides for, the refs actually advanced the ball 5 yards for Wisconsin. Fitz had to run out into the middle of the field to tell them that they were going the wrong way. The ref then announced the following: "The 5-yard foul against Wisconsin moves the ball back 5 yards." Cole picks off a poor pass along the sidelines in the end zone. This after taking it down easily to the 20. The Badgers are really shooting themselves in the foot.
  5. Wow. Black knocks it loose at their own 19 yard line and Northwestern recovers, stopping yet another Wisconsin drive.
  6. Sutton back in there after suffering a mild concussion. Northwestern wastes a 1st and goal opportunity from the 7. But in true miracle fashion, Howells actually made the FG. 10-9 Wisconsin.
  7. Wow. Brewer 5/5 passing so far, threw a great ball to Thompson, who made a great catch, and now Wisconsin turns it over. 10-6. Of course, Howells' PAT was blocked (shocking...) and Sutton is hurt.
  8. And 2 plays in, the game appears to already be over.
  9. It's a shame that this is the last Northwestern/Wisconsin matchup before 2009. Wisconsin is the closest school to Northwestern and have really enjoyed a good rivalry against them (meaning beating them in crazy fashion at times) over the years. NU won't play either Wisconsin or Penn State the next two years. But in both 2009 and 2010, Northwestern and Wisconsin will face each other to close the season on rivalry weekend. That should be good. And Heinz is probably out at least another week after this. He'll probably end up playing one game (the Sun Bowl) in his last two years of school at this rate. Northwestern will defer.
  10. It looks like temps at kickoff will be in the mid to upper 60s with it getting to 70 near the end of the game. It will be sunny, but hopefully they won't be tempted to wear white at home. That would look bad with Buffalo in navy. With the warmer weather, though, that should hopefully mean more navy in the stands.
  11. They're playing at 11 AM on Saturday. I just found out that Colbert will be the grand marshal for the homecoming parade (two weeks, night before game against Michigan State). Needless to say, I think I'll be attending my first homecoming parade since I was in elementary school.
  12. Thankfully, my cold is gone and I'll be enjoying the game in section 149. I can't wait. Kickoff temps should be right around 70.
  13. Nothing like being bumped from ESPN2 by baseball tonight and a playoff game. Who knows if I can watch the game on ESPN 360. And this game will also suck. Brewer will start once again because Kafka isn't 100% and Bacher needs another week of practice. And Heinz, who was going to make his season debut on Saturday, left practice when his foot (the same one with the ankle problem) was stepped on.
  14. Jon

Jones' OPS over the last three years at the Metrodome was .746. You and others totally dismiss the fact that it was possible his OPS was low due (at least in part) to playing in the Metrodome. His OBP, which wasn't good, is still better than the .315 and .319 he put up the past two seasons. And with the Twins, his road OPS was below .800 from 2003-2005 (.770, .784, .793).
  15. Might have been more fun than the Falcons game.

  17. Clark will be rested for the rest of the game.
  18. Ogunleye had a sleeve/brace put on his right arm. Just let him sit the rest of this out, please.
  19. Another great rendition of Bear Down! I'll be sitting in section 120 next week. I am so pumped.
  20. It's been 12 years and the Tribune can't even spell MacPhail right: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/15656486.htm Title: "MacPhail resigns Cubs' post" EDIT: Apparently it's autocorrected, but it says Mc Phail
  21. What a throw! TOUCHDOWN BEARS!!!!!!
