  1. Shaq won't play tonight.
  2. Well thank goodness for PJ Brown down the stretch. Not the prettiest of wins, but it's a win against a pretty good team.
  3. Especially if Bradley is good to go, I don't really see the point other than as a decoy. Let him focus on special teams.
  4. And Northwestern blows another one down the stretch. Nothing but bad turnovers and allowing offensive rebounds.
  5. Bah. Coble's three to tie it against Ohio State with under 5 minutes to go wouldn't stay down.
  6. I hate Chelsea but I like this move for him assuming he plays on a regular basis. Still its a nice little upgrade for him from the almost Fulham move he made. Also reported Chicago missed out on signing Zidane, as they did try to lure him out of retirement. Had MLS signed Beckham and Zidane in the same month that would have been a huge upswing for the league prior to the season opening. Still with that being said I am very happy to see them attempting something. The Fire also went after Henrik Larsson and Brian McBride, but no luck.
  7. How can the Colts possibly stop a receiver with these kinds of powers? http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2007-01/27522915.jpg
  8. It's not really good for baseball. How are all the other teams supposed to be able to afford mediocre players that won't have much of an impact on their team?
  9. Hey, if it wasn't for your laid-back UCLA attitude, you'd have gotten to the post before my edit was in.
  10. Not sure what happens to the remaining 17.5%. By the way, the cheapest ticket to sell on the secondary market was about $2,400. :?: Bears: 17.5% Colts: 17.5% Remaining NFL Teams: 35% NFL (for sponspors, network parners, licensees): ~25% Dolphins: 5% -------------- Total: 100% Hey. Already edited. Went back and reread it. The writer left the each for the end. Very irresponsible. Do you just hang around waiting for me to make a math error?
  11. In case anyone wants to know how the tickets are divided up: By the way, the cheapest ticket to sell on the secondary market was about $2,400.
  12. Hey, Bud and I have something in common.
  13. Certainly, but judging by Lovie, Urlacher and P-Nut's comments in the media, you can tell they relish proving everyone wrong. How is it disrespect? Clearly the Bears had no motivation in the Packers game, and it cost them. Clearly they had a huge amount of motivation last week, and it propelled them a lopsided win. Those are just a couple of examples, but I think the right movtivation can maximize talent output, or lack of motivation can minimize it. I don't think that disrespects the talent of the team. It's saying that they can't do it on their own talent, skill, motivation, and desire. That they need something extra. The Bears were playing for nothing in the final week of the season and were playing for everything in the playoffs. That's all the motivation they needed. Keep in mind that the media loves to feel so important and they're the ones who continually bring up media-related questions in press conferences. And feeling a bit of redemption by rubbing it in the media's face after the fact doesn't mean that it played an important part in any victory. The fact that the team admitted Lovie motivated the team by reading the names of all the experts that predicted the Bears would lose, and the score they predicted, tells me they used it as motivation. It's not disrespect to say they used it as motivation. I think the Bears were clearly the most talented team in the NFC, but the question was whether or not they'd play at their best. Maybe they didn't need something extra, but they definitely used it. I believe he read off the names of everyone in the roster after reading a sentence from various articles. So they did use it, but just about every team uses those kinds of motivation techniques to pump everyone up before the game, whether quoting specific articles or other so-called "bulletin board" material. Or they use other things. But it's all part of a rather generic pre-game pep talk and they're all used to it. Sure it may get them a little more angry than they otherwise would be, but they're professional athletes in a huge playoff game. They know how to mentally prepare themselves. When you're in the middle of the third quarter, that doesn't have much of an effect. And I doubt it crosses anyone's mind during the game.

  15. The media and whatever crap they write isn't important. Crediting being called underdogs and the disrespect that may have received from the media as having any significant motivating factor that can make a difference in the game is a huge disrespect to the talent that the Bears have.
  16. The Bears will wear navy and white.
  17. I know I've mentioned it before, but the Bears will be the home team. The jersey selection is up to them. I don't see why they wouldn't pick navy, but I guess white is always a possibility. Outside of the limited allotment each team gets for season ticket holders, I'd expect it to be a pretty pro-Bears crowd down in Miami. You're going to have a lot more Bears fans willing to fork over $4,000-$10,000 each to spend a weekend down there and go to the game than Colts fans just because of the differences in the fan bases.
  18. There's no way the Bears would let him play if he didn't receive permission.
  19. They were talking on the post-game show yesterday about how a new generation of Bears fans was created last night. All I could think about was how much it's going to suck getting tickets next year. But that's a price worth paying.
  20. I prefer one of the weekend games of the home opener series (gotta get the magnet schedule), and have had no problem getting them the last three years either. You gotta be commited to the VWR though. I take the day off or work and enlist an army of friends. any secrets for the vwr this year? My mom and brother are planning a trip so I'm sure I will have to help them try to get tickets to the Braves series. Open up tons of windows and you shouldn't have that much of a problem. Opening Day usually doesn't sell out for a couple of hours, and that's if demand is really high. It also depends on the other hot games, though. The fewer there are, the faster Opening Day goes.
  21. A pick doesn't require contact. And it most certainly did look like a pick. But, I would imagine these things happen quite often, especially in 3 and 4 receiver sets. Receivers are running designed plays. They don't know ahead of time whether the DB will be in tight or loose coverage, therefore it's probably not called most of the time. Yeah. Live, it sure looked like the receiver made it pretty obvious that he was trying to set a pick. But as everyone has said, it's rarely called. And that didn't really cause Harris to take that horrible route to Bush, but I doubt he would have taken it more than ten yards without the pick. On a related note, the secondary looked pretty darn good yesterday. The big early pass play on Tillman was given up because he tried to go for the pick with a well-timed jump but ended up behind the receiver. If he had tried to knock it down, he wouldn't have had a problem. Then again, Vasher turned a similar play in the 4th quarter into a pick. But they really stayed with their men well despite the footing.
  22. Angel did unleash some nasty curves last season, but they seemed to be few and far between. I can't wait to see it consistently.
  23. I'm leaning towards switching to that line of thinking. But if a team doesn't win the final game, would I want to go back and buy a t-shirt? For this, though, I think I'll wait for the SB t-shirt (although the navy locker room shirt does look nice). As for the taunt, I could care less. But for clarification, the taunt came before the flip. What I do care about, though, is Harris' angle to Bush (horrible) and the fact that it sure looked like an illegal play by NO. You can't pick a DB like that. Then again, I didn't really see the replay.
  24. Someone really needs to take that picture away from Raisin.
  25. Unreal, or the Bulls could put a product out there that was good enough that this wouldn't happen. You think this would have happened when Jordan and Pippen were there? I can't stand how Chicago people don't understand that some people that live in the city want to support the hometown school. If Farmar would have been picked by Utah and then came to play the Clippers and the fans would have screamed for Farmar to come in I am sure you would have took issue with it. UIC? Isn't a 23-17 record going into the game good enough to justify "fans" not starting chants for the opposing players and for Illinois before the game even started? The pro-Bulls chants weren't that loud at any point throughout the game.
