  1. Yeah, it's not like Barry Bonds won a gold glove in 1991 or anything. The writers stole the MVP from Bonds that year, plain and simple.
  2. His 16.0 K/9 destroys the previous record.
  3. His entire argument is that there's a bias against Crosby and he never wins any awards where there's any argument for someone else. He also used this year's Hart Trophy going to Sedin as an example of this bias.
  4. Man, I'm having an intense argument with a Pittsburgh friend over who most deserved the Best Forward award during the 2010 Olympics, Toews or Crosby.
  5. My favorite quote from a San Diego blog: "Hey, the Aztecs aren't half bad"
  6. Is Jose Bautista going anywhere?
  7. It actually feels pretty good to put the next to last nail in the coffin to some team.
  8. It's actually disappointing to me now when Marmol gets an out but not a strikeout.
  9. No matter what happens here tonight, the Padres need to sweep the Giants to contend for the division.
  10. Glad someone appreciates my contributions. :good:
  11. Yeah, so part 2 was Yankees/Red Sox heavy.
  12. I'm not a fan of these huge ratings especially because this game topped another Bear game from last year. ESPN and NBC see these numbers are going to want the Bears in primetime but I prefer the Sunday afternoon games by a wide margin. Why doesn't ESPN put the games on ABC and get even more viewers? Dancing With The Stars
  13. The documentary also pretty much said that Barry Bonds got jealous at the attention McGwire/Sosa got in 1998 and that led him to take steroids himself to pump up his HR numbers. Is this actually true, or is it just another storytelling device that sounds good on TV?
  14. Look...all trolling aside, let me ask you a few questions? 1) Has anyone here implied that this is anything more than the 3rd game of the season? Anything more than a win over a Packers team that was a Super Bowl favorite? Anything more than a surprising start by a team picked by many (including it's own fans) to be pretty damn bad? 2) How does the "better team" commit more penalties than they scored points? How does the "better team" have so many mistakes to allow the Bears to be so "lucky"? In the long run, maybe you're right...the Packers might be the better team. Like you mentioned (in caps)...it's the third game of the season, and we have to wait for the season to play out to see who is better. But on Monday night, the Bears were the better team. It's a hard concept for a lot of Packers fans...so it's cool if you don't get it... http://www.packerchatters.com/4ums/index.php?showtopic=18297 3) It's worth pointing out that you were pretty pumped as well last year after the Packers beat the Bears....in the FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON: 1) I know we all realize this is only the third game of the season. However, my attitude right now is disappointed at the loss, but still optimistic for the future. Can you say the same as a Bears fan had the Packers won? Everybody can feel euphoria from a win (as you've seen from my reaction from one year ago), but it's how you take a loss that determines one's true nature towards their team. 2) I agree, the Bears on Monday night were the better team. I get it. I've never said the Bears didn't deserve to win. All I'm saying, and it seems you agree with me, is that only time will tell who is the better team overall. I believe it will be the Packers.
  15. Judging by the size of this thread, this is obviously the most important game of the year for Bears fans and determines their outlook for the entire year. Sports radio today was loaded with Bears fans getting positively horny at the thought of what heroic efforts their players put forth Monday night. On the flip side, I am able to look at this game for what it truly is: ONLY THE THIRD FREAKING GAME OF THE SEASON. There's a ton more football to play and you just have to learn from this game (as with all games) and all will be well. I've said it all along, I believe the Packers are the better team and this game did not diminish that opinion, loss aside. Only time will tell who is right.
  16. A little too Yankees heavy for my liking but overall incredibly entertaining. I enjoyed this a bit more than the original, primarily because the events took place during my childhood. Of course, it points a huge finger at the players for the 1994 strike and at Barry Bonds (to be continued).
  17. And who might those two "spout-offs" be?
  18. I'm pretty sure the Packers gave them those games though. I don't know what's more hilarious to me. Bears fans acting holier than thou to Packers fans right now, or Bears fans fellating themselves over one win.
  19. I'm out tonight. See you guys in Green Bay. I'll leave you with this. SHORYUKEN!
  20. Roughing the Passer: Flagrantly running into or hitting the quarterback after the ball has been released. Can also be called when a defender hits the quarterback in the head. Melton drove Rodgers two yards backwards and hard into the ground with that hit. It's not called all the time, but I don't have any guilt over that penalty.
  21. Cheating really? I guess when a basketball player fouls at the end of the game on purpose to stop the clock, that's cheating too right? "Cheating is an act of lying, deception, fraud, trickery, imposture, or imposition. Cheating characteristically is employed to create an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others,[1] Cheating implies the breaking of rules. " Yea, I think that holding, pass interference, and roughing the passer all fit under there. Fouling in basketball is cheating too. The fact that its done because the penalty may not outweigh the reward is irrelevant. Anyways, the point I was making was that your line looked pretty good for instance (compared to the Bears), but due in large part to the holding of Peppers that kept happening. So in order for that strategy to be successful will almost always rely on not getting caught. If you hadn't held him at certain points, or interfered with receivers at certain points, they may have not looked as good as they did. And the Packers got called for those penalties in spades. And the Packers still almost won. And I don't know what you mean that the Packers wouldn't have looked so good since the Bears got over 150 free yards in penalties. Are you saying the Packers got away with some penalties as well? I'd like to see some examples.
  22. Mind like a steel trap. You can't argue with this kind of infallible logic.
  23. Cheating really? I guess when a basketball player fouls at the end of the game on purpose to stop the clock, that's cheating too right?
  24. A big reason why the Bears were even in a position to win the game there is because the Packers consistently shot themselves in the foot with mistakes and dumb penalties. How many games are the Packers going to allow a team to stay close to them when they should be blowing them out before you admit that its killing the Packers chances of being a SB contender? No doubt the Packers are very talented, and they would probably have to still be my favorite for the division at this point, but you should feel down about your teams chances to win in the playoffs with such an undisciplined team. This is the first game this year the Packers shot themselves in the foot with penalties. They only had 2 penalties against the Eagles and had 6 penalties against the Bills, but that was a blowout anyways. Like I said before, today the penalties are disappointing and a few of them downright moronic but one game doesn't make a pattern.
  25. I guess every one of his 26 INT's last season was his receivers fault, right? No, but at least 1/3 were. Man I say Rodgers is better and I still get hammered. Still, what does that have to do with my point? I am talking about the Jay Cutler of this year, not last year. Ok, then. Cutler this year has had 3 good games in a row this year. It's happened before. I'd let the season settle in before making sweeping gestures.
