You know, when I found out that Wood had been re-signed to a new deal, my brain told me it was a good idea to sign him cheap with an incentive laden deal. However, my gut told me it was stupid and that the Cobs have already wasted enough money on him and that they should have cut their losses. Then, he looked decent at times in spring training, and I thought it'd be a great story for him to be able to turn it around as a shutdown pitcher coming out of the bullpen, maybe even to challenge Demp for the closer spot. However, just like clockwork, the beginning of the season rolled around and the shoulder pain returned. We made fun of Mike Hampton for his extremely large contract and low production, but I'd like to see the $/K, $/wins, etc. numbers on Wood from the previous years as well. Its time to be done with him. He's made so much money off of doing absolutely nothing, he should be coming in to get his paycheck with a ski mask on.
