  1. I'm not sure why one would come into a thread about this subject and say this. I think I posted it in response to the discussion about all the fouls being called. Have you watched any of these games? They're horrific. I've watched a good amount, and I think it is not news that college basketball is worse than the NBA and that if you are a Basketball Purist you definitely want to watch the NBA and not college basketball. They need a 30-second shot clock, to go from 5 timeouts to 3, and to do something meaningful about flopping. The games don't seem much more 'horrific' than they are every year. You might be surprised to find that the people on this board generally know college athletics is objectively inferior to the pros in terms of level of play and are aware that that is just one of many issues with it, and just happen to like it anyway. And that the handful that don't realize the former are not the sort of well-meaning people that are going to be convinced by a drive-by "COLLEGE SPORTS Sox" post on a message board. Also, I'm amused by the fact that 'sucks' with an x substituted for the 'cks' autocorrects to Sox. it's not about the purity of the sport, it's about the quality of competition. it's awful and mostly unwatchable and whatever with the aww shucks some people just like it bit. at least 90% of the tournament's captive audience has money on it. remove that motivation and we're talking about a fringe sporting event at best
  2. I'm not sure why one would come into a thread about this subject and say this. i'm surprised it took so long. this sentiment should be expressed as quickly as possible in any thread involving collegiate athletics imo
  3. if i'm reading that right, we have the 2nd highest floor/25th percentile (but oddly, ~10th-highest ceiling) my first thought is that having a relatively compact range of likely outcomes is a good thing, though obviously the really nice thing would be to move all of those data points to the right
  4. seriously It doesn't bother me; it's just not what I was expecting at all. Is it more or less weird knowing the entire staff dressed like that? I don't even know anymore. i'm pretty amused by your seemingly legitimate concern over maddon's mental health. it's like you are permanently scarred by the experience of sweet lou's drift into mild dementia
  5. addison russell rockin the derwood date shoes
  6. i don't think you're supposed to tag the base with your face, however divinely delicious it may be
  7. i guess that's probably true if you have some sort of mental disease that prevents you from conditional thought
  8. that was really great man, thanks for sharing
  9. hahahaha
  10. Tell me what on Earth you could need the processing speed of a supercomputer. The benefit is how quick data can be transmitted. There is simply no need for computing data that quickly unless you think we've got all our players armed with bluetooths to be told when to swing and at what trajectory. i think maybe you have no idea what you're talking about. the value of a box like this is that you can run your whole operation on them; i.e. store, manage, consume all of your data, run applications in parallel, as well as user access, etc. it's a huge task, and to be honest, 500k isn't really all that crazy of a spend for a super-specialized stack like this
  11. game seven of the world series, cubs need a great start if they are going to have any chance, leadership takes a good look at the available options, knows they've been relying on their nacho-ral leader for too long. tim finally wises up and invites da bum to come back and start the most important game thread ever kent willing
  12. "dickslapped" could also mean slapped in the dick, which would be a lot more manageable of an achievement
  13. pecota has sucked since Nate left. Interesting, Wyers was essentially saying that it had to be rebuilt from scratch based on how poor of a job Silver did constructing it. If he still posts here I'd love to here his thoughts. Here's the link I'm referring to. it was built in excel and was really complex, so that has a lot of baggage, but i don't think anyone there is saying that he did a "poor job" of constructing it. for a non-programmer, that's the only way of building something like that
  14. I'm just a known idiot, but I am aware that this crazy thing called "Spring Training" exists. "Hey Kris, go spend twenty minutes tracking down fly balls" on some high-sunned March morning. Boom, he now can handle left field. this post just makes me want a 20 minute video of you trying to catch fly balls on a sunny day. 1 minute of Kyle trying to catch fly balls, 19 minutes of him being loaded up and taken away in an ambulance. omc would be suuuuuuper into that video *conditional upon the amount of pieces kyle is in
  15. I didn't think that looked right. Not sure if you meant it this way, but that is an NL only list and for some reason is from '81 - '90. 1980 is the last year of the 70's
  16. If that is the case, which I am all in favor of, then why did the Cubs tender Wood? Does he have any trade value whatsoever? i think plan b was in effect before plan a took over
  17. Objects in their mirror are closer than they appear. But they are kinda blurry. hahaha
  18. yeah well now he's gonna want dat lester $$$
  19. Brandon McCarthy ‏@BMcCarthy32 7m7 minutes ago "Paper or plastic Mr. Lester?" *sun sets, rises, then sets again* "gimme a sec"
  20. gordon wittenmeyer is a fraudulent hack, even if he is accidentally right in this or any other instance
