  1. Harang and Arroyo have stepped up thus far and Weathers is pitching well at the end. plus the nationals and their huge ballpark are terrible One of those pitching performances was against Carpenter in STL. the one today was due in large part to the nationals being terrible, and their ballpark being huge. edit: they have three shutouts...one of which was against the brewers in milwaukee...so maybe they aren't so bad

  3. QS is six innings with three or fewer earner runs, so he needed just another shutout inning
  4. An Aramabomb right here would go a long way toward that goal !! He is so due. Come on, Aram, let's tweak that bat speed up a little. he um, homered earlier to give the cubs the lead Where's Steve Martin to say, "Well EXCUUUUSE, me!" :-) Sorry - I tuned in late. it's cool, probably why i didn't call you a name while i was at it... although he hadn't had a two hit game since april 16th...so i guess he was due for something

  6. Compare to Carlos Zambrano's MLB debut, Gooz's outing looks like an All Star. Doesn't lessen my point however. your point doesn't make any sense... marshall gave up four runs in four and a third against the cards in his first start...and now guzman gives up three in five innings...and you appreciate marshall more than guzman?
  7. pujols singled home eckstein in STL...cards win 4-3
  8. he hurt his hand/wrist... it's hurting me too, unless the rangers score 85 runs, and then it's alright Thanks. Hopefully nothing serious. i believe he's in line for the loss now though, kiko calero just surrendered a grand slam to kevin mench...

  10. wow, pujols to 1000 hits and 200 homers faster than mays....that is impressive
  11. as i say nice hit walker, he gets gunned at second...sweet
  12. well everyone needs to hit and stay healthy...that kinda goes unsaid...
  13. JP needs to keep getting on base, and then stealing them to get into scoring position for Walker, Ramirez, Murton, and Barrett. Anything outside of those five guys are bonus runs to me. I almost fell on the floor laughing when someone stated what the Cubs needed to do to stay in the race. Ramirez needs to start hitting, Jones needs to start hitting over .250, Murton needs to keep it up, Z needs to step it up, Wood and Prior have to come back and stay healthy... Those are a lot of "ifs". Don't forget about Wade Miller either. And send OhMan to Iowa to get his crap together.
  14. we edited our school's sports section of the newspaper for three years... and i was only kidding
  15. hahah that's the hope... and since i have nothing better to do tonight, i'll prolly catch him by the morning
  16. thanks... i tooled around on the site last season, mostly reading up on the stuff in here... but i looked today, and my co-sports-editor has 1500 posts....so i've got some catching up to do
  17. i think if we can tag penny for a three in the first three innings, we should have enough momentum to carry us through the game. i also think we can take at least two of three from the cards...ponson is a scrub, and williams has pitched well thus far rusch is a scrub, and we'll probably get annihilated on saturday but then it's back to maddux beating marquis on sunday. the cards have lost every game in which pujols has failed to score a run. They have also lost every game which he has failed to drive in a run. The Cubs held him without a run and an RBI in two of the three games during the sweep.... that's the formula to success
