    Superb defender, excellent game caller and a little bit of a bat. He's a fine backup. I knew the first two. His bat has been very good this year for a backup catcher.

    He won't be here next year so that's not an issue. you're so sure that Hendry won't be duped into a 4 year deal based on this season? i'd rather make a run at one of the brewers' aces. We're talking Hendry here though, he likes to reward players when they don't deserve it (Neifi, Blanco), imagine what he'll offer to someone who is actually good Would something like a 3/30 with a 12M club option for the 4th year do? that would be a hometown discount I could see Demp being one of those guys who'd settle for a hometown discount. Could be wrong, but it seems like he's appreciative to Hendry for giving him the chance to revive his career here, and he's playing for a winning team that should be good for several more years. He would take a hometown discount if Hendry gives him something reasonable. I'd say 3/30 with club option should do it. The only question is, is it worth it?

    It would be weird having the Marlins get a star player from the Red Sox. It would also be lovely to have Bay out of the division. I don't know if Hermida would kill the Cubs more or less than Bay. More if he plays like he did last series.
