  2. I don't think anyone was suggesting that he get starts over Baez or Zobrist. But I wouldn't cry if he got to get some starts over Russell, with Baez at SS and Bote at 3B. He may not last, but ride the hot streak while you can. And Russell sure isn't on one.
  3. If Tommy has to die so Bote can stay, so be it.
  4. That is just fantastic. I'm glad I watched the twitter video without knowing anything else about it.
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] The best part of that is all the replies crying that Carpenter isn't included.
  6. I feel like the Baez MVP conversation is still relatively local though. I haven't seen him get much consideration from national or out of town writers.
  7. It happened so fast that no camera got a really clear view of the play.
  8. If it was anybody but Rizzo, I don't think that happens. Rizzo having previously apologized to Angel I think went a long way to him admitting this now.
  9. Nah, he'll never get the votes, sadly.

  11. Career high in O-zone (outside of the zone) swing % at 48.7%, which is second in baseball (Sal Perez in first, Almora is in 8th), so probably more perception than reality. His zone swing % is way up though, at 80.4% (career 70.7%), so maybe it's more a matter of not letting good pitches go by. Third in baseball for that, behind Freeman and Albies. Looking at pitch types, he's murdering fastballs, but he's been a plus against them for the last few years. The big change seems to be against curveballs, had never been a positive pitch for him and now he's killing those too. To your point, maybe there have been less swings on curves that bounce in front of the plate. I haven't looked at the numbers, but just from watching, it seems like sliders down and away out of the zone are still a trouble spot for him.
  12. I saw a tweet that Hamels looks like an actor portraying a pitcher. I think that's pretty accurate.
  13. I don't understand why anyone is throwing anything in the zone to him at all right now. i feel like this is low-key like the peak of the lester being unable to throw to bases situation. no matter what the scouting report says, it’s just too weird and different to run to the next base when the pitcher is holding the ball and looking at you, or to throw every pitch like it is 0-2 regardless of the count. But pitchers are generally able to pitch around other sluggers...with the "unintentional intentional walk". With Javy, it'd be even better because he'll be swinging at those a good amount of the time. I mean...I'm not really complaining.

  15. Maybe. Maybe not. There is a dangerous precedent being set where people are jumping to conclusions without the full context. While some of these people may be genuinely bad guys, I don't think it is fair or productive to keep digging through everyone's past for any sign of a potentially offensive remark. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk This is a bad post. There is no context where these tweets are ok or acceptable. These are hurtful, damaging tweets that people should be called out on. Free speech is not consequence-free speech. The only people this is dangerous to are those that use hateful speech.
  16. Our #4 hitter has been pretty horsefeathering great.
  17. If mocking the Brewers is wrong, I don't wanna be right. FWIW, this isn't just Cubs fanboys/meatballs that are scratching their heads at Milwaukee's moves. Plenty of national writers/commentators/experts were scratching their heads too. Rosenthal thought it was weird enough he was questioning reporting it. https://theathletic.com/454272/2018/08/01/rosenthal-pirates-defy-the-narrative-by-pulling-off-trade-for-chris-archer/ Of course his next line was "Cubz Rule Brewerz Drool" so who knows.
  18. The Mets doing absolutely nothing is hilarious.

  20. Lots of twitter reporters agreeing that Archer is heading to the Pirates. So weird.
