    Also...teams just can go on streaks. It wasn't too long ago everyone was all "omg the PIrates have won 11 in a row and are back in it!" and here we are...they're 10 games back now.

    I'm always an optimistic fan. When you guys start [expletive] on some guy, I'm usually the type to try to be more measured about it. It took me forever to finally recognize that Heyward sucked (before he kinda stopped sucking). But Addison is consistently the guy in the lineup I have the least amount of confidence in, and it's been that way for a good long while now. And then his off field stuff just makes it that much harder to give any kind of benefit of the doubt.

    He's only bad at outfield during national broadcasts. He's just fine every other game.

    I hope the bullpen guys start using that to come to the mound during the game. And then the starter can ride it back.

    They led 2-0 in the 6th and lost by a run, I'd be more surprised if they didn't feel that one got away. That said, the Nationals as a franchise are getting really good at coulda, woulda, shoulda-ing against the Cubs, going back to the 4 gamer in 2016 when they blew a lead in like every game, and of course last year. I dunno...if it was 2-0 in the 8th, ok...I get it. But 3 against the team with the best record in the NL is lot of time to think "oh we got this". But I admit, it's a dumb quibble.

    Apparently Davey Martinez and numerous people on the Nats message boards think that they should have won all three of these games. For last night, I get the sentiment, but Friday? That one hardly a "should've won" game.

    So...I went to bed before the bottom of the ninth. I thought the Cubs had a chance if they'd kept it 1-0, but once it got to 3-0 I decided nah. Thank god I have it set to a season recording on the DVR.
