I wonder at this point if Soriano just has a stigma attached to him around the league somehow. -
mlb.com's description of this one says it's Rizzo's 2nd career homer. I guess HR's hit with the Padres don't count.

We should. TPE's aren't traded. If we send out Korver and don't take any salary back in, we get a TPE. We just have to wait for the full details.

i have no idea why it took that long. Some people I know were in genuine freak out mode terrified at losing Brees, which is quite comical because there wasn't any way they weren't going to sign him. That city would burn to the ground if they let Breesus walk. Are there any examples of a super elite franchise QB not getting resigned in his prime? He was franchised anyway.

Clearly they meant the Bulls could let Asik go to Houston. I'm amused that the Rockets might've shot themselves in the foot a bit here.

Watching the Kerry Wood 20k game the other night on CSN was probably the most fun I've had watching a Cubs game in a while. Might've been the only one I've watched beginning to end all season, too.

Houston wants to free up enough space where they can absorb two max contracts. Ok, but if they're gonna take on Asik anyway, by doing a sign and trade with us, they can get rid of Scola without burning the amnesty.

Technically yes. Realistically, probably not. They'd be damaging their ability to negotiate this kind of thing in the future with players and agents. Also, the Rockets will amnesty Luis Scola with 3 years $21 million left on his deal. How about a sign and trade with Asik/Scola? Seems like a better deal than matching Asik. Probably a salary cap issue though?

So the Rockets are trying to get a Dwight Howard deal done now. But they've verbally committed to an offer sheet to Lin and Asik (even though they haven't actually submitted those offer sheets yet). An ESPN article speculates that they may be secretly hoping that the Bulls/Knicks match. But that they're confident that even if the Bulls don't match on Asik, that they can still get Howard in there. Stay tuned.

I don't know how to do this in the interface, but you can always open any link in a new browser window by holding down the ctrl key when you click the link. This is standard browsing procedure for me in general. What did I do before tabbed browsing? -
Unless they're telegraphing that they'd match in order to try to get Houston to agree to work on a sign and trade?

I think the 92 Dream Team would probably have most of the fan support too, though that could be nostalgia more than anything.
