  1. lol...awesome.
  2. Not sure. A month or two ago, I read that the Cubs wanted to break ground at the end of this season and do it in phases over the course of 3-4 offseasons. If they do it in one year, it'd be interesting if they could get that all figured out by next season. If they do it in one year, does that probably mean sharing US Cellular?
  3. lol...shocker that McClellin wasn't actually a bust after his first couple of practice. Great to hear positives about him though.
  4. are you ignoring the part where the bears were the best team against the run last season? In a word, yes. Because it's not that important. It's not a running league. It's a sack the quarterback league. The Bears defensive front has done a poor job of this and as a result they haven't been good enough against the pass. Yeah, the pass defense in 05 and 06 was miles better than our pass D last year.
  5. Generally I agree. But when it's tape delayed for american audiences, I can understand trying to remain unspoiled. I've seen news of the results in dozens of locations in the last 30 minutes. if you are making the effort to avoid being "spoilered" from a sporting event that anybody can follow live don't read about the olympics. Agreed, which was my original point to Derwood. He probably should've just avoided the thread.

  7. Use the spoiler tags, fer [expletive] sake He should have, but you should probably just avoid this thread if you don't want spoilers. Much the way you don't go into the Breaking Bad thread and whine about spoilers.
  8. How do you differentiate his physical ability from his ability to read a scheme and correctly guess/jump a route?
  9. Like Brad Biggs pointed out, when you draft a guy, you don't generally move him back in the defense, you move him forward. Saftey to LB. LB to DL. It doesn't usually go the other way.
  10. Urlacher is smart enough to recognize plays and let that cover a lot of his physical decline, but he doesn't cover the same ground that he used to.

  12. "The Bears are one of the few teams that make special teams part of their foundation. Thirty-one other teams would do this, too, if they had a return artist like Devin Hester." Not sure about that for a couple reasons. The Bears emphasized special teams before Hester showed up. It was always going to be a big part of their scheme. Additionally, they went after Hester and Manning in the same draft largely because of that emphasis on special teams. I think some teams would do what the Bears have done if they had Hester. However, most would simply hope Hester would do what he does while treating the rest of their special teams unit exactly as they do now. Yeah, the Bears have had success with other returners as well, like Vasher and Manning.
  13. A lengthy Bears preview from the NY Times... http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/08/02/chicago-bears-2012-n-f-l-season-preview/
  14. :D
  15. The Daily Show had this as their moment of zen the other night. Oh man...hilarious...
  16. Was Chris Williams worse at guard last year than I thought he was? I'm just not sure what the story is there.
  17. Kelvin Hayden is apparently having quite the nice camp so far. Might be pushing Jennings for the starter spot.
  18. And he played it perfectly in the media by being sympathetic to Dempster when everyone can see from the facts that Dempster had no reason to feel blindsided. Loving this FO Exactly. And then they go out of their way to let Dempster in on the calls to the Dodgers so he could see that they didn't want him. I can't imagine that happening in too many FO's.
  19. If anything, that article reaffirms to me that Theo is really freaking good at his job. Dempster made that a really difficult situation and I don't know if Theo & Co could have handled it any better.
  20. Somehow I have zero memory of Jerome Williams.
  21. So I'm skipping around to some other teams forums today seeing what other teams' fans are thinking about the Bears. And man, this thread on a Lions board is just super funny. But it was this line at the top of page 5 that made me have to post it... http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=93&f=1801&t=9182965 This argument actually continues for about 3-4 pages.
  22.
