  1. Oh, holy crap. I didn't even notice it was Thurs this week.
  2. And what [expletive] good did that do us? Again, decide what point you want to argue. We aren't talking about wins and losses. We're talking about the offense you found worthy to mock.
  3. After 5 games it should be #1!!!! So we're barely above average and that's supposed to be exciting to me? I don't care about your level of excitement. But you should be realistic.

  5. Who said anything about "full effect"? Ok, we've reached the point of this argument where it's going to devolve into nitpicking the intricacies of wording. The point is that the offense is improving, the defense is getting worse, and none of this is unexpected. If you expected different, you were wrong.
  6. Immediately? That's your fault then. 5 games is immediately? Absolutely! This is Jay's what...4th or 5th OC/system? This offense is going to improve over the course of years. If you're expecting massive improvement game to game, you're going to be disappointed.
  7. Wait, what? You were whining about the offense. Now you're changing to the defense? Decide what point you want to make. Let me clarify. I expected the defense to take step backward with the coaching change. I was hoping it would be a small one that would easily be covered up by the marked improvement in the offense. Well everyone was hoping that, but age and injuries have caught up to them. It's been a long time coming, and there was no way to build defensive depth and fix the offensive line in the same offseason. They correctly focused on the offensive side of the ball, as it's an offensive league and they have an offensive coach. At this point, our best hope is that the offense shows large improvements over the course of the rest of the season and can win in shootouts.

  10. They had Greg Olsen and couldn't do anything with him. Lovie couldn't coach offense, and couldn't hire a coach that could coach offense. There's no reason to assume what you're saying is true. Mike Martz refused to use a TE. Was he the OC last year? The biggest problem with the offense last year was the horrific OL play. You don't believe that fixing that issue would have made the offense better without any other changes (taking Bennett out of the equation)? Do you think Lovie would have played two rookies on the right side? Don't you think we'd still have Webb playing out there with Lovie and Tice in charge? You're assuming that the coaching staff would have made the same personnel decisions. They wouldn't.

  12. I would say they do more dumb things than the good teams do. Although that's quite hard to measure. There's just a whole heck of a lot separating the Bears from the teams at the top. Definitely. The Bears aren't a finished product. They're good enough to possibly make the playoffs, and maybe win a game or two with a bit of luck and the right matchups. They're a massive long shot to do more than that unless there's some crazy improvement over the course of the season. I think the defensive line injuries and ineffectiveness is going to be it's achilles heel for the rest of the season.
  13. Oh for fucks sake. Don't be a meatball. Do you seriously not think the Bears offense is better than it was under Lovie? Do you think that a new offense should be great after 5 games? I love Cutler, but he's not Peyton Manning. The defensive line should bother you way, way, way, more than anything on offense.
  14. I would think the fact he turned it down, or withdrew at the very least WOULD be held against him. Especially as a guy without managerial experience. Which the Cubs really want this time around. And it seems like the Cubs are looking for a different type of candidate this time around. Namely, they want managerial experience.
  15. I cannot imagine watching a minute of preseason anything at this time Lets see if Rondo misses this whole season, how you'll feel about watching preseason next year.
  16. This is not an article about Girardi or the Cubs, but maybe it has some relevance? http://sports.yahoo.com/news/manager-john-farrell-proving-to-be-the-difference-for-red-sox-050728453.html
  17. When it's not a means of deflecting attention from his own failure.
  18. He said the Bulls were on the verge of getting Kobe in 2007... And he called the Greg Olsen trade about a year early. He has good sources, but it seems like he's always sure about what's going to happen when maybe it's not quite as definite as he indicates. But I do believe he believes it.
  19. Bernstein says that the Cubs are prepared to offer Girardi 5yrs/$30mil.
  20. Yeah, as much as I hate Dusty, I have little doubt he's telling the truth. It's not that I doubt him...I know that there's plenty of racist assholes out there...but the fact that he brings it up every time he gets fired is just bad timing. It just makes it look like whining/excuse making.
  21. He's managed 3 teams and taken all of them to the playoffs. Some team will ignore the negatives and focus on that positive.
  22. Preseason basketball is the worst, but I'm looking forward to the game on Sat just to see Rose on the court.

  24. Go get em Theo!!! :^o
  25. Bernstein just said on the radio that the Cubs fully expected permission to be denied, as this is a lateral move, not a promotion. But they feel very, very confident that they'll get Girardi, and that all the other names we're hearing are fallback candidates.
