I understand the frustration, but what "celebrity" names are out there at all for GM? Decosta was the closest thing really...maybe Polian I guess? The only 2 coaching interviews they have set up (today and tomorrow) are for 2 guys that are gonna be in the playoffs and unavailable. I think they wanna get that GM in place before they go full bore after a coach. I think that's why we haven't heard much more than rumors.
Apparently the Denver bench was shouting "Let him shoot it!" in the 4th quarter. After hitting one of those late shots, Rose stared down the Denver bench.
@ByTimGraham Well-placed source: Polian's decision on Bills shifted in past day. Major factor in change of heart was talking to Marrone, who ripped org.
@jasonlacanfora Bears request to interview Ravens personnel ace Eric DeCosta was submitted Wed. He's declined many requests in past. expect that continues
@AdamSchefter Bears request permission for GM interviews w/ KC’s Chris Ballard, Tenn's Lake Dawson, Balt's Eric DeCosta, Hou's Brian Gaine, NO's Ryan Pace
Brian Billick thinks the Bears are the worst of the 5 coaching vacancies. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000452398/article/best-nfl-coaching-vacancy-atlanta-falcons-job-tops-the-board
But they didn't have a coach search going on at the same time, and that was generally considered a lengthy process as I recall. I thought the head coach search was considered lengthy. Weren't there like 18 candidates? Trestman was hired on Jan 16....so it was shorter than the GM search.
That's fine but I don't think some candidate is going wait around with an offer in the hand so whether we make contact now or not- urgency in the GM hiring is important. Hopefully they just have a very short GM list and are moving quickly and quietly behind the scenes. They can do two things at once. Find a GM, while vetting HC candidates.
