  1. @AbramsonPBP A reporter just called Lovie Smith a defensive guru. He responded "I haven't heard that one in a while. You know I was 2-14 last season?"
  2. well, not sure that is a perfect parallel, since those are shows, and they always do a horrible job "fixing" those places. I have gone through home and office renovations and while they last for months it does usually look like [expletive] within a week or two of being able to move back in. I took it as him saying as they'll basically just cover up how [expletive] up it still is like those shows do. Nah...just meant that the "make it look good" portion of renovations are always the last things they do, and usually are pretty quickly done.
  3. Back on the ice already apparently.
  4. Ever watch a home renovation show? The place always looks awful till the the last hour or so. Perfect parallel. No need to dissect it.
  5. Mort says he signed Assuming Marshall was dumped for character issues, it seems odd to turn around and sign this dude. Yeah, but Marshall was pretty high profile, and cost a bunch of money. It's not a 1 for 1 in terms of distractions. You can jettison this dude whenever. Gonna be a ton of guys on 1 year deals. This is looking more and more like the NFL version of a rebuild.

  7. Pretty sure that Hoyer participated Is this him? http://i.imgur.com/8SYzNtT.jpg
  8. I was watching the B&B remote yesterday -- similar turnout. Don't know why they do these when nothing is going on and at these strange locations. I get doing a remote in Wrigleyville on Opening Day or whatever... Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing the bar pays for the remote for the advertising?
  9. I'm guessing most of you heard this already, but Matthew Wuest, the CapGeek founder, died of cancer yesterday. http://metronews.ca/news/halifax/1318169/matthew-wuest-metro-halifax-sports-reporter-and-capgeek-founder-dies-of-cancer/
  10. Man, some of you guys have incredible memories for these banned posters. That was 7 years ago.
  11. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/diving-into-first-base-maybe-not-crazy/ As the link notes, this is not about injuries. This is purely about whether diving or running through the bag is faster. Take your injury arguments elsewhere. I've long been in the minority (I think) by believing that diving could be (theoretically) slightly faster than running through the bag, but I know everyone has strong opinions on this. It feels like it could be, if done perfectly by a guy with the right body type who practices it regularly. But it also seems like it just happens willy nilly a lot of the time which negates the likelihood that the diver is doing it the optimal way. Also if you do it enough to make sure you are doing it the optimal way, that probably increases your chances of injury. No doubt, injury risk is the trump card that really invalidates the rest of the argument.
  12. Right. They don't dive, but they sure as hell lean forward in an attempt to get more horizontal.

  14. Yeah, that was the first time I heard of it being an issue. Also the first time the Cubs had a prospect worth considering that as an issue. I remember a quote from some writer along the lines of the Cubs are obviously going to win the the WS since they apparently have 5 better starting pitchers than Kerry Wood. Not a writer: EDIT: Figures....beaten by an edit.
  15. my favorite is hearing arkush say there's zero chance of them winning a world series this year (they were having a conversation about bryant i think) despite acknowledging bernstein saying he thinks they can nab a wild card. so they can win a wild card but they can't win a world series? haven't we seen the crapshooty playoffs thing enough times by now? i probably should have posted these in rants Wait, this is Hub Arkush's opinion on baseball that you're getting worked up over?
  16. Because Cubs
  17. That one looks like he put it through an instagram filter or something.

  19. I don't know if it's focus...it seems more like motion blur. Maybe he has trouble holding the camera steady?
  20. olt with a sweet barehanded play to get the runner at 1st kasper called it a 4 star play
  21. Yeah, but that was The Score playing a Fox Sports feed. They still do that on occasion...sometimes on weekends, more often on holidays.
