  1. Has he ever said this? Or just your belief?
  2. A lot of people saying Neifi would get more playing time is if Cedeno struggled, even for a short period of time. That has yet to happen, so obviously Cedeno is going to remain the starter while he's having success. Even Dusty isn't dumb enough to sit someone hitting as well as Ronny is right now. I hate Dusty. he's an idiot and plays crappy players when he doesn't have to way too much. with that said, many said all winter that Neifi would get all the SS at the first sign of Cedeno struggles, then Cedeno struggled all spring. come openning day, Cedeno was the starting shortstop, so his point is well taken. fwiw, cedeno was pretty much guaranteed the starting job going into spring training. if he struggled during the year like he did during the spring, neifi would probably be starting by now. If I recall correctly, Bobby Hill was "pretty much guaranteed" the starting second base job and managed to lose it before the season started, so Baker should at least get credit for giving Cedeno the shot....
  3. I find the section about Lee's injury more interesting...I hope Will is right.
  4. Really? I mean...I like Murton a lot too, but I think the chances of him being as good as Cabrera are low enough that the trade would definitely be do-able. Stats so far for this season... Cabrera AVG .346 | HR 3 | RBI 11 | OBP .443 | SLG .635 Murton AVG .280 | HR 2 | RBI 9 | OBP .345 | SLG .480
  5. Forgot about Eric Hinske. He'd be an OK pickup. Miggy would be a great pickup, obviously, but I would think the Cubs would have to give up at least 1 of their current ML regulars to make that happen....namely, Murton, Marshall, or Williams. I'd give up any of those 3...I'd like to keep Murton, but if that's what it took...
  6. Because they don't really like Wilson, and can take advantage of an opportunity to get something for him before he leaves for Free Agency. But that would cripple their chances at winning the division!! :o
  7. That was Murph Yeah I heard a Murph promo this morning with the same phrase...he must enjoy it.
  8. Updates for those of us that can't listen?
  9. I had both Derrek Lee and Scott Eyre on my team.
  10. Clemens will retire. :D
  11. Somehow I don't think Stoney saying a few nice things are gonna have him and Wood going out for beers after games or anything though.... :P
  12. No, I doubt seriously that the Cubs would ever consider having Palmerio back on the team. Are any of the guys on the team today married to any tramps? Okay, so that's a trick question. Raffy in the clubhouse would be a bad idea. Forgive me but I don't get the joke. Was he involved with a trashy woman? Pretty sure he's referring to Raffy getting with Sandberg's wife?
  13. That has been the major problem so far this year. And giving up the long ball. T-23rd in MLB with 21 HR's given up. Again though, they're getting away with it so far, still not giving up a lot of runs.
  14. 23rd in MLB with 60. So far they seem to be getting away with it.
  15. I think there's been a perception among some on the board that the Cubs pitching is just scraping by. The Cubs rank 2nd in MLB in ERA with 3.71. Mets are 1st with 3.33. The Cubs rank 1st in MLB in Avg Against with .215. Mets are 2nd with .222. The Cubs rank 2nd in MLB in Runs Allowed with 53. Mets are 1st with 58. The Cubs rank 1st in MLB in Hits Allowed with 95. Mets are 2nd with 106. The Cubs rank 5th in MLB in OBP against with .313. The Tigers, Mets, Red Sox, and White Sox are ahead of them. Should be interesting as we go along to see if this is an early season "small sample size" thing, or if our pitching is going to be this good all year.
  16. Sammy's gone....maybe Grace can un-retire.
  17. We need to have a "Dugout" intervention for you TT....
  18. Say what you will about Reinsdorf, but there have been exactly 7 championships for Chicago teams in the four major sports in the last 20 years. All 7 have been Reinsdorf's teams. The Chicago Fire won 2 titles in the early part of the decade.... Soccer just missed the four major sports cutoff....it was REAL close though... :D The Fire probably consistently outdraw the Blackhawks. I'd argue that they are the 4th major sports team in the city... I'd argue there are only 3 major sports in the city... 8) See my edit. The Fire draw over 15K on average, and more than 17k the last 2 seasons. That's major, IMO. Hard to argue with that. I honestly didn't realize they drew that well.

  20. Neifi was barely on the team that year. In 2004, Neifi had 62 PA's in 23 games with .371/.400/.548/.948 for the Cubs In 2004, Neifi had 319 PA's in 103 games with .232/.276/.295/.571 for the Giants Ick.

  22. :-k You know he meant 2004. Or more likely, 2005. I think "more than made up for the loss of Nomar" is quite the overstatement though.
  23. I knew when I saw that article that the thread topic discussing it would be something along these lines.... :P
  24. Isn't the Sporting News based in St Louis?
