I'd be somewhat surprised but happy if it indeed happens. I just don't see him fitting. He's sure as hell not gonna start, and with his first inning woes he's not cut out for the bullpen either.

I'm of the opinion that if you are able to dive such that you touch the bag immediately as you contact the ground...like if the runner were diving for a fly ball that would land at the spot where the bag is....then it's faster than running through the bag, but sliding for any actual distance is slower. Obviously this is ignoring injury risk.
