  1. I thought there were a couple of those during this game. Who cares though...it set up an unbelievable ending. Unbelievable. I really wish I had recorded it. After that Bears game last night, I'm glad there was a game this weekend that lived up to my hopes...hell...it exceeded my hopes by about a billion times....
  2. BOISE STATE WOOOOOO!!!! That was hella fun. I thought Boise had blown it after that INT. I can tell you from living in Boise that the entire state lives and dies with the Broncos. Idaho is partying big time right now. I'm really proud of that team.
  3. I'm actually rooting for all of this to happen...and then the Packers to lose anyway....:D
  4. From Bill Simmons picks this week:
  5. But I don't think Romo makes it if there's a clear viable alternative. As silly as Romo looks in there, there wasn't an obvious other choice. If Grossman had made it, or if Vick had made it, there would be the same arguments that they didn't deserve it. They wouldn't be the same arguements. Romo had played far fewer games and had far fewer good games. Brees was a clear choice to start in the pro bowl. Started every game, is leading his team to a 1st round bye. Look at his stats: Att Comp Pct Yds YPA Lg TD Int 549 352 64.1 4372 7.96 86 26 11 Compare this to Romo: Att Comp Pct Yds YPA Lg TD Int 305 197 64.6 2582 8.47 53 17 12 I mean come on. What other explanation could there be for Romo making it over Brees other than just the fact that most people won't watch the actual games----preferring instead to watch a few ESPN highlights? Romo's barely even played. It was a complete travesty. Romo was the 3rd QB. Brees and Bulger are the first two. Brees will start.
  6. While spring training stats are not a good way to determine who should get jobs, you should be able to get a good idea of Lee's power. It shouldn't take until midseason to make such a determination. If Lee doesn't have his power, or reverts back to his 2004 numbers, this offense is going to need mega-production from other guys to make it into the top half of the league. They need to get something significantly higher than his career .276/.363/.500 line, I don't even want to imagine what would happen if he's below that. Aramis didn't have his stroke going until May last year and he wasn't even coming off of a major injury. I don't think it would be a fair assessment to say that if Lee has a bad spring that he's "lost his power".
  7. But I don't think Romo makes it if there's a clear viable alternative. As silly as Romo looks in there, there wasn't an obvious other choice. If Grossman had made it, or if Vick had made it, there would be the same arguments that they didn't deserve it. With the Coach of the Year, I just don't see how Payton gets overlooked.
  8. Wait...so I shouldn't have provided my Name, Social Security number and the number and expiration of a major credit card??? Crap.
  9. My point is that Lee may have lost some power with the writst injury. But either way, if Soriano hits a solo HR and then Lee follows it is still two runs. My thinking is that Lee has decent enough speed and a pretty good OBP. If he doesn't hit for a lot of power or less power he could be pretty good in that slot. So then wouldn't it be a better idea to start out the season with Lee in the 3 spot and make this as a midseason adjustment if his power isn't there? I just don't think you can make the assumption that it won't be there.
  10. I disagree. I think Sean Payton wins it easily. The whole "New Orleans rebirth" storyline is going to be an easy angle to take nationally. The Saints are the #2 seed while the Jets have to win this weekend just to get into the playoffs, and both teams started the season having been given no shot at all. I also don't think all of the national media is on the Mangini bandwagon: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6312776 Also: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/12/27/SPGP8N67HE1.DTL http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/16317418.htm http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/16295477.htm http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/falcons/stories/2006/12/23/1224nflinsider.html Mangini and Jeff Fisher are going to be runners up.
  11. Joe's been out for quite a while it seems...what kind of injury is he dealing with? Hamstring. I think it was against New England. Thanks. I suppose I could have scrolled back and found the post that listed the injuries each player was out with, huh? Lack of sleep is making me a little slow today.

  13. Apparently Outside the Lines led with the "Hinrich hurt Wade" story... http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_whatsgoinon/2006/12/rileys_delusion.html Ridiculous...
  14. The Grizzlies have fired Mike Fratello.
  15. More crazy talk from Peter King in his picks this week:
  16. I'm not sure where you're getting this... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/sortableStatsTeam?div=NFL&stype=offense&stable=downs&stat=penTot&dir=descending&season=regular This has the Bears 5th in the NFL with 106 penalties. 3rd in total penalty yards with 879. http://www.nfl.com/stats backs this up as well. That is the Bears offense. Switch to the defense. Ooops...my bad. Heh.

  18. The writer that is against his induction doesn't even have a good reason though...he says Hawk's stats are there, and talks about all of his accomplishments, but ultimately says he thinks Hawk was merely great and not elite, but provides no reason whatsoever for that.
  19. HAHAHA...from Dr Z's rankings...bold added by me:
  20. Yeah UMfan83 posted that near the end of the game thread from last week. It's definitely gonna be tougher, but on the bright side they won't be able to say we haven't played anybody this time next year... :D
  21. The Vikings and Giants were both winning teams when we faced them. And there's only 5 winning teams in all of the NFC, and we've beaten the one of those that we've faced, so it's not like anyone in the NFC has faced a lot of stiff competition.
  22. Hello Sean Payton?? That's actually a legitimate argument though. I would vote Payton but Mangini has to be second. Although I would consider voting for Art Shell over both of them seeing as he has done an absolutely spectacular job this year. My problem was with the "locks in" argument. Mangini is far from a lock, though he's clearly a strong candidate. I'd put him 3rd behind Payton and Fisher though.
  23. W/O the roto league scoring. Personally, I voted against the idea and for going back to 1 game per week. Yeah, count me in that camp after all.
  24. New Orleans not only has the no.1 offense in the NFL, but the no.1 pass offense as well. The Bears are ranked ninth in the league in pass defense, and are getting progressively worse. Rattay threw for 250+ with 3td's and then Kitna threw for 280+ with 3td's in the Bears last two games. Our offense is ranked higher than your defense, and our defense is ranked higher than your offense. The cold weather is what scares the crap out of me. Hester was player corner in both of those games, which he won't be doing in the playoffs (please God). Having Vasher and Tillman both playing will be HUGE.
  25. I know that it's just one guys opinion, but CNNsi has the Bears as the best team in the NFC, and says we'd be "middle of the pack" in the AFC. He gives us the best odds to win in the Super Bowl of any of the NFC teams, but he still puts as 10 to 1. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_blogs/nfl/huddle_up/2006/2006/12/handicapping-nfcs-chances-to-win-super.html
