  1. It's possible, but I have my doubts. Certainly Jerry has the right to tell a player in Tank's position what not to do when he leaves the facilities. But I really doubt whether they have any authority to actually enforce such rules. It would be insubordination, but, it's probably completely legal (if not justified) insubordination. But I'm sure there's a clause in his contract for something like that. Contracts can be voided for injuries from other sports played in the players free time. Or motorcycle riding, that kind of thing. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know all the legalities of it, but I imagine that's the kind of thing they're finding out if they can do.
  2. They can't suspend him for the legal issues, but it's possible (and I don't know this for sure) that the Bears could suspend him for insubordination for going out to a nightclub after he was specifically told not to by Jerry Angelo.
  3. Apparently the refs review pager system failedat the end of the game on the Davis catch...they wanted to review it. Also David Haugh thinks thatTank will get another chance, just maybe not this season. Maybe the Bears will suspend him for the insubordination since they can't for the legal matters?
  4. if you listened to what ESPN says The Eagles are going to the super bowl because Jeff Garcia is OMG WTF awesome. ESPN has taken the same position they did with Tony Romo, on its knees right in front of him Eventhough New Orleans lost and the bears won, New Orleans only hit a bump in the road while the bears are terrible right now The bears only have a "decent" defense because they have had poor outings the past 2 games. Hey sean salisbury, dont tell the everyone that we had a pro bowl CB and 1 of our safteys out. The colts that they left for dead last week will destroy any team out there. I didn't hear much of that, but ok. He may have exaggerated some, but I've heard those kind of sentiments from ESPN.
  5. Add that to the apparant rule that made Worrell's risky move to go after the ball just as the opposition was about to down a punt not as risky as I thought, and you've got a couple situations where I was screaming at the TV only to realize I was wrong and the player was not as dumb as I thought. What rule was that about Worrell's play? I don't know if I heard the justification for that.
  6. What's that quote from? That sure sounds like it's taken from Lou's comments during the winter meetings, but I could be wrong. I'm hoping that spring training will change Lou's mind on a few things...
  7. I seriously just got a cold shiver when I read that. Oh my god he is so awful. He's worse then awful. I don't really have words to describe it. I like Collinsworth though (assuming you were talking about Gumbel) I've always really enjoyed Collinsworth. I haven't heard any of the NFL Network games so far, but I can only imagine how bad Bryant would be. Well he called the playclock the shotclock this past week. That was fun. That's high comedy.
  8. I guessing they'll put out half the starters this week and half next week or something like that...so they can get guys rested but try to keep the rythm for others.

  10. Any word on Thomas Jones? From the Trib article about Cedric: EDIT: I should have read the whole article:
  11. Yesterday, the defense allowed one actual offensive drive, and got burned for 2 big plays. 10 points were scored on a turnover and a stupid coverage penalty where the Tampa offense managed to move the ball a grand total of 9 yards combined. My only real concern was a lack of focus on defense after they got the big lead, and that the Mannings got burned twice on plays within 2 mins of each other. Good post. Couldn't agree more.
  12. Here's my list: 1. Saints 2. Cowboys 3. The field The Falcons would be my favorite team to meet, so I can agree with you there. I think the Bears would do a good job sniffing out Bush, but Brees scares me a bit. I think he could have a good time shredding our secondary depending on how healthy we are. The Cowboys don't scare me a lot, just more than the rest of the possible opponents.
  13. Peter King last night spend about 5 minutes before the game talking about Drew Brees's contract. He said that while everyone thought he signed a 6 year deal, it was actually a 1 year deal with an option for the other 5, and that in order to exercise the option, the Saints have to pay $12 million. He did a nice job of trying to scare the crap out of Saints fans with this, before saying that the team knows they'd be dumb not to exercise the option, and that they will. Then why mention it Peter? Why spend 5 minutes of airtime on it??
  14. Did they draw the birthmark on his face? Ya know....for realism's sake? At least a small measure of respect from Clark Judge on Sportsline. From his 5 thoughts at the end of his "judgements":
  15. Agreed. The Saints will be the only real NFC competition, and I'm not convinced that they'll be as tough as they've looked at some points.
  16. Peter King also says Drew Brees is still the MVP right now, which I think is just ridiculous. So he's obviously got some kind of love for the Saints right now.
  17. So why would Lovie go out of his way to state the Tank is still a member of the Bears yesterday? I was just coming to post this quote. I think we've learned that we can't believe anything Lovie says. Last year "Orton is our quarterback" turned into Grossman replacing him. This year "Grossman is our quarterback" was reportedly a bad half away from being untrue. This week he said that Hester was too busy with special teams and defense to play offense, but he was on offense for a play this week. And now this... I'm sure there's more I'm missing, but I think the point is that Lovie isn't always truthful in the media. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, since I'm sure a lot of it is gamesmanship, but I think we need to consider that when evaluating his quotes.
  18. How about win a playoff game? The Saints haven't done that recently, and were being touted as the best in the NFC last week.
  19. Um...hello? The best team in the NFC has to either be in the NFC East, or been recently ravaged by a natural disaster. It's a rule.
  20. God, the NFL really needs to drop whatever crap they are holding against the Bears and start calling a fair game. Christ. The NFL doesn't have a vendetta against the Bears. I can understand you claiming an announcer (Joe Buck) doesn't like the Bears but to claim the NFL has something against the Bears and instructs the referees to favor the other team is just stupid. It was a freak'n joke. Somehow I doubt that. There's word I want to say to you but this is a family board, so instead, why dont you just shut up, jerk. Thank you for editing your post...but both of you need to drop this.
