  3. I have owned the domain names for SecondCityFootball.com and SecondCityHoops.com for a long time now. But I can't find time to keep this site up to date! Maybe I should just set them up as message boards and not worry about anything else for now. Any interest out there? Definitely.
  4. Well, not really . . . I think Melman is going to actually BE an owner. And if he's friends with Stoney, then that could lead to a front office job. At the risk of incurring the wrath of you guys - What's the main beef with Stone as a front office guy? I mean, is it SS as GM that you don't want to see, or are you equally scared of him as Asst GM (or even Assistant TO the GM?)? I don't want Steve Stone involved in personnel decisions at any level.
  5. I think 99.9% of Cubs fans wish the same thing. IMHO a lot of Cubs fans have formed their opinion about Murton from just his few at bats earlier this year, since they stopped paying attention last year when he was doing so well. Its not like Floyd is doing terrible. But neither is Murton. Floyd isn't doing what he was brought here to do....hit for power. Murton can put up the same numbers that Floyd is putting up, so why not get a young guy out there and see what he's capable of, instead of running the old, fragile, and powerless veteran out there?
  6. Keep Steve away from the front office.
  7. Andrew Perloff from CNNsi.com has a breakout or bust article...5 breakout stars for this year and 5 busts. He has Cedric Benson as a bust. So they didn't know he was coming before? I don't get it.
  8. Thoughts? http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070802&content_id=2125494&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc I wouldn't say that I'm confident in him every time he goes to the mound, but he's definitely improved significantly. I knew the whole "never" thing was an overreaction.
  9. I beat you by one post...:)
  10. Video
  11. LOL...now the guys on Brewerfan.net are claiming that Estrada is a clubhouse cancer...sounds like they're practically recreating the Barrett thing step by step.
  12. I posted this in the Braun thread in Rivalries, but it probably belongs here instead...
  13. I don't think Yost is going anywhere. The Brewers GM was on ESPN last night and was raving about Yost. Should be really interesting.
  14. Unfortunately the most likely explanation for his poor performance today was that he's Sean Marshall. Weak argument. How is what he said in any way wrong? Right now Marshall is a No. 5, No. 5's get lit up from time to time. He's young and he's not a guy that you expect to dominate every time he steps on the mound, he's the exact kind of pitcher that you would expect to give up a lot of runs every once in a while. The implication was that Marshall is a poor pitcher. This is Marshall's second (maybe third depending on your definition) bad outing of the year. That to me is FAR from a poor pitcher. Now if he was trying to imply something else, then that certainly didn't come across. Whether it was because he was trying to say he was a poor pitcher, or whether it was simply that he wasn't getting his point across very well...either way, it was a weak argument.
  15. What was he doing? Sleeping with a sharp stick?
  16. Unfortunately the most likely explanation for his poor performance today was that he's Sean Marshall. Weak argument.
  17. Really? When did he make that prediction?
  18. Brown better stay healthy and Archuleta better...you know....be good.
  19. Hill and Marquis have been inconsistent. I'd love for you to bring some facts with you to prove Marshall's inconsistency. It'd be fun to watch you try to prove it. It's be fun to watch you not be a jerk. Insults are against member guidelines. Stop it. Fair enough. Is taunting against member guidelines? Asking you to try to back up your opinion is not taunting.
  20. fixed That works too. i said that because Barrett has been brutal for the Padres (236/236(!)/303). He's had a Jock-esque nosedive from his 2006 numbers. He has Zambrano separation anxiety.
  21. How is Marshall inconsistent? OK, I guess he has yet to prove a leaning towards inconsistency and if the playoffs started today I would slot him as the #3 starter. I'm still not comfortable with that. Why? 2 bad outings all year. I'm not saying the guy is a bad pitcher. I'm just not confident that he is enough to round out the back end of a playoff rotation. Especially when they will probably need four starters. Then they'll have to roll the dice with Hill or Marquis. Come on...Anthony Reyes and Adam Wainwright did just fine.
  22. How good would Barrett look batting right now?
