  1. LOL...assistant GM Dirk Nowitzki...awesome.
  2. While that's good, I'd just prefere Stone not be involved in team decision making processes in any way at all.
  3. Better than Craig Monroe, Jason Kendall, Koyie Hill, or Cesar Izturis. I can't back that up.
  4. Throw the kitchen sink at him? i knew you guys were smart! I thought you were wanting to make him dinner. Apparently a salad.
  5. Well I know that Murton would be shipped out as fast as humanly possible. Stoney has some real venom aimed at Matt for some reason.
  6. Apparently if Chicago financier Lou Weisbach's group buys the Cubs, he would hire Steve Stone as GM according to Fred Mitchell of the Trib. Let me just say, I hate that idea. EDIT: Even more interesting is this blurb about Hendry...
  7. Well it's not just Rotoworld...he did publish it on Foxsports.com... http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7315170 And it seems like Rosenthal is right a lot.
  8. I have not yet begun to overreact. If this is proven true, then I will show you overreaction.
  9. Wow...way to completely destroy offseason hope early on and not let us dangle with anticipation.
  10. what if you worked with marriotti? No hypotheticals, please. :clown: Especially cruel ones!!
  11. Thanks Bruce. Any idea whether Hendry is going to have the freedom to play the free agent game while the team is in ownership limbo?
  12. That's not even a real number. Should make it easier to pay. Pay a pretend amount with pretend money.
  13. Somewhere between moderate and detrimental. I don't let it keep me from doing my work, but it takes up just about 100% of my downtime.
  14. There's going to be a lot of disappointed people when Cuban isn't able to buy the Cubs. I include myself in that group.
  15. Heh...someone should email that piece to Mark...:D
  16. I hope to get in on the ground floor with this case after passing the bar. :D Me 2! I passed it and I wouldn't want anything to do with this case on any side. Talk about one that will drain the life from you. Holy Christ...how many lawyers we got on this site? I thought I was one of the only ones killing billable hours! I'll be in law school next fall, hopefully. Be careful what you wish for! Its better than digging ditches...but I'll be paying off student loans till my kids are 30.... There's quite a few...there's legend of a character called JC that's a lawyer, but I think it's a myth.
  17. There's already a huge thread on this in Transactions...lets use that one. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=43680 viewtopic.php?t=43680
  18. Few would. But is Derosa really making that much? $4.75, and $5.5m the next two years. Not "that much" but a significant enough chunk. In my mind he was Todd Walker cheap.
  19. I'm all for the team being sold as quickly as possible, but regardless of whether the sale is completed over the winter I expect Hendry will still be here next season in order to ease the transition into new management. The big question will be his available budget. You're probably right, but I was holding out hope that a new owner would bring in his own GM. If the deal took place before November, I would suspect that would be the case. But if it doesn't happen before the winter meetings, I'm not sure they'd get in on-time to make the necessary changes. Anybody wanting a job is probably going to take one before then. I think the new owner lets 2008 get off to a start, and will operate under the "we're evaluating everybody" story until, or unless, the team falls apart early. Which was why I was disappointed to hear of the delay.

  22. That's because those 50 points are always better, regardless of what the other teammates did. in a vacuum they are. but the goal of baseball is to score runs, not have the highest OPS Runs are team based. OPS is individual based. If you're trying to determine the best player, use OPS. If you're trying to determine the best team, use runs scored. I don't think that's a terribly controversial statement.
  23. i see what you did there i don't get it They keep changing their name. It's been the Angels for a long time now... :)
  24. Did Banedon mean Hendrys ability (able) to spend money or his ability (poor choices) to spend money? I thought the second. I meant that Hendry may not be given the go ahead to spend money.
  25. Comcast Sports Net mentioned that the Cubs may not be sold until after Opening Day because they haven't yet decided whether or not to package the team and Wrigley in the same deal. That's what Cuban implied on the radio that he was waiting for too...for them to decide exactly what they're selling. Here's an article expressing a similar opinion: http://www.chicagobusiness.com/cgi-bin/news.pl?id=26641&seenIt=1 Honestly I don't see how this can be a good thing...the team in limbo. It means Hendry is likely going nowhere for this next season, and I have no idea where that leaves Hendry in terms of his ability to spend money. EDIT: Wow are there some unflattering photos in that article.
