  1. Why? Because there was a lot of chatter about Girardi being the top choice, so I figured there wouldn't be any announcements from the Cubs until after the Yankees were done this season.
  2. Sweet! I got the last post on the other thread. ;)
  3. ESPN News says a 2-year deal with a club option for 2013.
  4. ESPN news says a 2-year deal with a club option for 2013.
  5. Curious timing of this news.
  6. It's definitely possible, but Girardi is from the area, played for the Cubs, has a wife from the area, and made it no secret that he wanted to come here after we dumped Dusty and before we hired Piniella.
  7. Why is everyone assuming the Yankees want Girardi back for 2011? His contract is up, if I am not mistaken, and maybe they don't want to pay him as much as he wants. This is not a typical situation you are talking about here. If Girardi doesn't at least make it to the WS this season, I can see the Yankees deciding not to bring him back. They aren't completely rational and level-headed in NYC.
  8. If we don't win this one, we might as well just leave Mike Sherman in Lawrence. dude. you're not gonna lose. Have you seen our QB that our idiot head coach refuses to bench? I'm not taking anything for granted the rest of the way.
  9. Hossa :clapping:
  10. Has this been posted yet? http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/11/2010/10/500x_favreshirt.jpg
  11. Why are Texas A&M and UCLA on this list? Good question. I can't remember the last season we didn't lose at least 3 games in a season. After a quick check, we went 11-3 in 1998 and 9-3 in 1995. When we were on probation in 1994 we went 10-0-1. I was a student then. The tie was at the Alamodome against a terrible SMU team. That is without a doubt the worst road trip I ever went on. If we don't win this one, we might as well just leave Mike Sherman in Lawrence.
  12. I agree that SOME of that has to fall on Cutler, but how many times did the tackles look to help double team a DLineman inside while a CB ran scot free right at Cutler?
  13. Mike Sherman is a [expletive] sham of a head coach. Send him back to Green Bay and give me Jim Harbaugh. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
  14. Only the Cubs...and Rangers.
  15. Not for the head coaches. The assistants do all the work. that's just not true. I wouldn't say the assistants do all the work, but at many schools they do a large majority of it. I'm sure there are some head coaches that like to be more involved than others, and for some, the level of involvement might depend on the recruit. But for the most part, there's usually an assistant coach that handles most of the legwork when it comes to recruiting. Head coaches don't hit the road a lot in football recruiting. I think they get 1 in home visit per recruit and that is usually done with the big time recruits closer to signing day. I think they spend more time on the phones and writing letters when it comes to recruiting.
  16. with OU, @Nebraska and @Tech coming up, it's absolutely a must win. We need to go 2-2 at the absolute worst during this stretch. It's a huge game for A&M, too. We lost the last two games against ranked opponents (one on the road and one at a neutral site) after a 3-0 start against creampuffs. This will be the first good team to visit Kyle Field. Sherman needs to start winning games like this or we will be searching for yet another new head coach in the very near future. Probably a new AD, too.
  17. The Hammer happened there.
  18. Because they beat the mighty USC.
  19. How does Les Miles sit down with that giant horseshoe shoved up his ass?
  20. "Looks like he's playing centerfield there."
