  1. spezio looks like an idiot with that crap on his chin...
  2. No pie! :? At least still no ceasar thanks anyway bruce
  3. His P/PA isn't great either. I guess we'll see how it all levels out with more regular playing time. He's been jumping on the first pitch a lot, and it's been working (.364 average on the 1st pitch) but yeah, he's been a little too aggressive in some at-bats. Overall, though, I don't think it's too much to worry about. i prefer to think that maybe his is just riding out this hot streak in regards to jumping on the first pitch. I'm sure he will start taking more pitches and working the count if he continues to hit in the 2 hole. He'll do whatever it takes to keep starting I am sure.
  4. at least espn switched it up this sunday night and gave the nod to the cubs/cards. i hate fox on so many different levels. nobody outside of new england is obcessed with the sox/yanks, get it through your head! :x
  5. Same here. thirded. somebody said they may get rain in new york saturday, anybody heard if it'll get rained out and they show the cubs instead?
  6. I think this is linked to the decision on Theriot and Izturis. If you keep running Izzy out there, there's no way the lineup could support waiting for Pie's bat to come around. With Izzy on the bench (or traded ), Pie can safely hit 8th. And he protects Soriana and Floyd/Murton/Jones by covering the gaps and playing great CF. totally worthless stat - i've had no several friends who are all fans of other teams call/email me about Pie with nothing less than praise. I even got offered Broglio for him on the phone, lol. props to izturiz for that hit last night but what exactly is his value anymore. he played what 2 innings of defense last night and blew what could have been a vital play in the ninth? if he looked like ozzie smith at short i could see his value as a late inning defensive replacement but he even fails at that  .
  7. I loved that article about him the other day. The kid who shined shoes (I can picture it too, when I was in the DR it seemed like all the little boys were shoe shine boys, that's all they could do). Running with tires on the beach early in the morning. It's awesome to see someone work his tail off to be successful and it really gives hope to such a wide range of people who look up to him. Keep it up, kid. I loved the article too but for some reason it made me think of sammy too much. I guess because sammy grew up poor in the DR. Nothing really against sammy but I just could never get over some of the things i heard about him being a terrible teammate. just left a bitter taste in my mouth when he left.
  8. well considering the article i read about pie under a different thread, i think he's a very grateful and passoniate kid. i really really hopes he keeps hitting because jones is OK in my book but trotting him out to center everyday would be a mistake. given sorianos hamstring and murton/floyd's lack of experience/range we need someone to cover some ground in center. especially when the weather warms up in chicago.
  9. IIRC, lou has at the very least hinted around that Pie was going to stick with the ball club even after Guzman gets called up. And I think that most people around here are in agreement with me thinking he should, but i was just wondering what most people really thought he could bring to the table THIS year. The homerun certainly got my hopes up last night, but I'm basically hoping for a pretty decent #8 hitter with great defense that can gradually improve at the plate. Anyways, heres to another day we hopefully will see murton and won't see Izturiz starting.
  10. will you kindly step away again the next time the cubs come to bat?
  11. how do you put a picture into the signature? copy paste doesn't work. put%20in%20this%20area%20whatever%20the%20web%20adress%20of%20the%20jpg%20is
  12. it was a mix up between barrett and lilly because of the runner on second. you can probably put just as much blame on lilly.
  13. haha, len just said "at least he didn't hit into a double play" classic, i like to think that was a a shot at izzy THE RIOT!!!
  14. whats a run? i'm starting to really like derosa, he just has been looking really comfortable at the plate lately.
  15. if ramirez would have been tagged out i would have lost it
  16. i wondered the same thing. ps-can we just start talking about the commercials inbetween innings instead of the cubs, it helps my blood pressure
  17. expect lilly to be pinch hitting this weekend now
  18. when will they learn when the wind is blowing in at 17MPH don't hit deep flies to center
  19. I just saw a commercial for "King Ralph" starring John Goodman....WGN sure breaks the bank when it comes to movie rights
  20. Batting leadoff isn't seeming to help Soriano out like we thought, so we should go ahead and move him back. I would propose: Theriot SS/2B Murton RF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Soriano LF Barrett C Pie CF DeRosa SS/2B Rotation: Zambrano Hill Lilly Marquis Guzman Bullpen: Dempster Wuertz Cotts Howry Cherry Ohman Marmol Bench: Blanco Floyd Ward Jones Fontenot (sp?) that lineup seems so apparent, but as a cub fan i know that it is about as probable as tuffy rhodes leading off for us tommorow and blasting 3 HRs
  21. thanks for the fresh breathe of air...i myself was feeling this way before the game tonight, however the cubs failed to show up once again. But your right, there is A LOT more baseball to be played. Could the current lineup get back into the race...probably not...but i think there should and WILL be changes made within the next week or so...this is embarassing for everybody including lou and hendry. It doesn't necessarily have to be huge changes...just enough changes to get out of this funk!!!!!
  22. Cubs record in games in which they take the field: 7-13. 105 loss pace. That's what $115+ million gets you on the north side of Chicago. what being a cubs fan gets you: swift kick in the ass.
