  1. So even knowing that he's one of the suckiest pitchers in baseball, we brought him in because of he's a veteran who has been there before and he won't meltdown under pressure like a young player ... then he proceeds to suck and meltdown.
  2. 0-6 against the 50 win Marlins for the season.
  3. Fontenot should just stick his bat out with his eyes closed and hope the ball somehow hits it. He'd have more of a chance.
  4. He could have gotten the take sign, and JJ still would have swung out of involuntary reflex. Asking him to lay off balls in the dirt with 2 out in a key inning is like asking him not to breathe or blink his eyes.
  5. That Pierre trade is looking better and better.
  6. 4 pitch walk. Time for Monroe to swing weakly at the first pitch.
  7. Rest of the team ... see Kerry Wood? It's called heart. Look into it.
  8. This team making the playoffs is like Dirk Nowitzki winning the league MVP award two days after his team gets knocked out of the playoffs by the #8 seed. It's almost more noble just to turn it down.
  9. What you guys don't understand is that it takes veteran experience to have the ability to throw a 87 mile an hour fastball down the middle of the plate.
  10. I would obviously not be as comfortable as I am now, but I wouldn't be even close to thinking it's over or that the Cubs were gonna blow it. The Reds we'e facing are without Dunn and Griffey, and Harang might even miss his start. The Brewers are facing a Padres team (admittedly also battling some injuries) fighting for their playoff lives. If the Cubs couldn't manage to, at least, win the same amount of games as Milwaukee in that scenario, they wouldn't deserve it anyway. Logically, that makes a lot of sense. Of course, logic would also tell you the Cubs wouldn't get swept by the worst team in the National League with the division on the line.
  11. I'd almost trade in an extremely unimpressive division title for a promise from Hendry signed in blood that I'll never see Steve Traschel in a Cubs uniform again.
  12. An .800 OPS? Performance for an entire season, not just half? The ability to make a throw all the way to the infield... And, Ewww...gamer... It doesn't take much to draw you offsides.
  13. Ugh ... we're 7-3 in our last 10 games. Or is this one of the "I'm more outraged than thou !!" measurement threads.
  14. Earlier they made fun of a heavy set gentleman in cubs gear. They are a classy organization no doubt about it. Best fans in baseball  I wonder if they declare the season over when their stopper blows a 1 run lead.
  15. Yeah, until he blows a save. Then let's go back to Dempster.
  16. The Cubs (and Dodgers) were due for something like that.
  17. Before I get too caught up in the Cardinals, I'd really like to keep this lead against the Dodgers.
  18. I feel the perfect storm approaching ... a simultaneous Aramis and Soriano hotstreak. If we can get Zambrano going, things could get interesting.
  19. I really hope Lou doesn't put Marmol out there next inning. He's really starting to scare me.
  20. Relax. This is Jason Marquis on the hill. Not Carlos Zambrano.
  21. Ward didn't waste any time swinging weakly at the first pitch ... but when it's shoelace high, how can you lay off? Who has that kind of willpower?
  22. Thank God we didn't end up with Schmidt or JD Drew.
  23. Somehow, I think I'll survive. Good lord, some of you guys take yourselves seriously. Pour yourself a stiff drink and kick up your feet ... God, it must be hell.
