  1. Z has repeatedly proven himself in the past. Marshall hasn't had anything CLOSE to Williams' meltdown against the Cards.
  2. of course it never works the other way around. people that hate Neifi always just let it go when someone says a complimentary word about him. But do they talk about Neifi, or do they talk about the person who wrote something positive about Neifi? That's the point. If you say something positive about Neifi, I'm going to point out the negatives, because by and large, he's a negative to this team. I'm not going to call you out for saying something positive, or say you should shut up and stop talking positively about Neifi. I'm going to address the Cubs related topic, which is the point of a Cubs related message board. But when you point out Neifi's negatives to that poster in a condescending or patronizing way, you in essence ARE calling out said poster.
  3. Seconded Barrett hurt his finger last night so I'm guessing that Blanco gets the start behind the plate. My guess is that Neifi and Restovich make their way into the lineup today. Blanco was likely going to get the start anyway being that it is a day game after a night game. Unless Neifi is playing at SS, which I doubt he will, he won't be in the lineup.
  4. People never get banned for disagreeing. They get banned for acting like idiots. In your opinion, should Gunned get banned for the post he made? Did he? Seems harsh if so.
  5. Wow, this is quite ridiculous. The posters who post more are the bad irritating ones. Younger fans are the only ones complaining. In the interests of clarity, he never said that younger fans are the only ones complaining. To paraphrase, I believe he said that he thinks there is more complaining on this board than others because, in part, he thinks this board is a little younger overall.
  6. While that may be true, I think it's fair to say that some here do only see the negative. Or, if nothing else, that's all they ever choose to post about.
  7. i just say it's stupid. It is? Was it stupid tonight with the wind howling in? Was it stupid when the Cards used it to beat the Cubs in a game last year? I think you are going to have a pretty hard time with your position. you're right...your sample size of two is irrefutable. They irrefutably worked in both instances. Hardly seems "stupid". But, by all means, go on with your overboard assertions that you apparently think help support your negative views toward anything related towards small ball. Even with the wind knocking everything down tonight...aparently, that factor is irrelevant.

  9. The funny part is I think the Marlins cut Lightenberg after they traded for Welly.
  10. Ignorance of baseball + poor logic + sweeping accusations = one really bad post. That's it. I see now. It is COMPLETELY unreasonable to insert Neifi into the 8th hole of the batting order in favor of the likes of Jerry Hairston when Neifi has shown the ability to hit the starting pitcher in the past. You're right There's simplly no way to justify that decision. Heck, it doesn't even matter one bit that Neifi ended up with a double off of that pitcher. Carry on with your regularly scheduled Neifi/Dusty hate.... I hope the added personal touch of your post helps you feel a little better.
  11. 3-3. The simple fact remains that you should not fault a manager for starting a guy against a pitcher that the guy has gone 3-3 against in the past. It's a PERFECTLY REASONABLE decision given the scenario. Anyone who picks at it is doing so as part of some sort of agenda.
  12. I don't think so. Ramirez is our only true power threat with Lee out and even Dusty recognizes that. I hope you are right, but lately it seems like Ramirez is a bit of a weenie when the weather is cold. I wouldn't count on much from him tonight. Hope I am wrong.
  13. That's encouraging, but why do I get the feeling that Cedeno wont be playing in both of the next two games? I don't know, considering Neifi has started for him, what, ONCE all year?
  14. I fail to see what is wrong with starting Neifi against a pitcher who he was 3-3 against in the past.
  15. I don't like it either. Especially when he has been hitting around .200 when he does it.
  16. Looking back at Jones' career, it seems that at least Tom Kelly had his head on straight. He batted Jones against lefties to the tune of about 1/3 at bats that Gardenhire did.
  17. It wasnt intended to be any sort of insult. Actually, it was more of a compliment. But, I guess I can see how it could be taken the wrong way, so I'll refrain from now on.
  18. I thought people just hated the way that Dusty used Neifi, not actually hated neifi.
  19. You go to law school, right? I'm guessing that you've learned to parse through material a little better than this. what material did i mis-parse? Apparently, you are willing to give Wastra a pass by using only Jones as ringing proof as an indictment against Hendry that he had "no plan", yet me pointing to the superior bullpen he has assembled as one indicator that he DID have "a plan" is lacking? Not very consistent of you there.

  21. I just don't get it. The Cubs were frustrated by Corey's inability to be a more selective hitter, so naturally they go out and get a more EXPENSIVE, OLDER version of Corey. I just don't get it. I would prefer Burnitz to Jones. Jim Hendry = No Offseason Plan. Again. Funny. It seems like he at least put together one of the best bullpens in baseball, if nothing else. and a good bullpen is what % of a complete team? Listen, he had a plan. It might have not worked completely, and it might not have been the exact same one you or wastra might have wanted...but for some around here it's like pulling teeth to give Hendry ANY credit. And it gets old.

  23. It's not clear at this point. My guess is it depends on whether or not Z can give the bullpen a much-needed rest tonight.
  24. Yeah, i kind of agree. I wonder if the Cubs had tried to get in on Guillermo Quiroz when he was available.
  25. Again, it's not really a zero sum game, either/or proposition because I don't think anyone is going to argue that a hit isn't more valuable than a walk.
