    No Banedon, when games are on WCIU and ESPN they are always blacked out here. (Here being Des Moines) I'm hoping todays game is different, but it doesn't sound like it will be.

    Anyone know how the blackout restrictions work for WCIU games? Is it the same as WGN games? (aka, will I be able to watch the game in Iowa or am I going to have to start sending letter bombs to the commissioners office?)

    Ok I have a question... I accidentally trashed my good Cubs hat (motorcycle + thunderstorm = bad) last thursday on my way home from work. Since then they've run off 7 in a row. Was that some sort of evil reverse-lucky hat, and do I have to wait until the streak breaks to go buy a new one?

    Pat said during the broadcast yesterday that Dusty calls Blanco "the fixer" and sends him out whenever a pitcher needs "fixing". So I guess he was hoping Blanco could call a better game and help Wood out. (yeah that went well)

    I think whitewater university (the water park) might be closed, not sure though. Besides the stuff everyone else mentioned, theres also "Sleepy Hollow Sports Park" sort of over by the fairgrounds, nothing special really, but they have go-karts, batting cages, mini-golf, and a par 3 golf course. The new science center is suppose to be really cool, I haven't been down there yet though. I'll probably take my niece one of these weekends :P I'm not really a fan of big chain restaurants, heres a couple of my favorite restaurants around here... Tumea & Sons, old school italian place, and its right by the stadium Claxon's, bbq/rib place, its in Altoona (east suburb of DSM) or Kin Folks texas bbq (across the street from the claxons actually) if you're in a hurry Iowa Beef steakhouse is good too, although I havent' been there in awhile. Sam's Egg Roll on the south side, its a tiny place in an old strip mall but some of the best chinese around here. http://www.dmjuice.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=juice Thats probably about the best site for finding random stuff to do on a specific date in des moines.

    Its 75 and sunny here right now, and the Apr 25th game is a noon start. :P I think I'll get tickets monday morning. If I get to see Kerry, great, if not, I still get to skip work and go to a game. :twisted:

    Lots of free time at work, and a fast internet connection :twisted: I'm pumped, hopefully it goes better than todays game did though. :x

    Which hotel are you staying at? No reason you couldn't just take the red line all the way up. Thats what I meant when I said take the train. We're at the Allerton (no idea what to expect, I've heard good and bad reviews) *shrug* we'll see I guess.

    Excellent, thanks for all the info. They said I can park early at the hotel, so I guess I'm taking the train. Definitely good to know that we can take in drinks. Do they check the contents of your bottles? :lol:

    Wow, that was quick :D Lots of great info, thanks Springfield_cubby, I was just wondering about parking early at the hotel. I'll have to call and check. We are staying at the Allerton just off of N. Michigan, so if we can park there we should be able to walk a block or two to the Red line. Yeah, lots of corn here and not much else. Although we do get to see Prior and Kerry 2 or 3 times a year when they make their annual I-cubs rehab starts :P

    I've been lurking/reading for awhile, but I guess this is as good a first post as any. :P I'm sure there are threads about this already, but the search is turned off, and a scan through the first 30 pages of posts didn't get me anywhere. Lifelong Cubs fan, and I'm going to Wrigley for the first time this week, so I'm trying to get as much info as I can before I go. Its the Wednesday game, 1:20 start. Unfortunately due to work I can't take off Tues so I get to drive from Des Moines wednesday morning. :( I was thinking about going straight there (can't check into the hotel at 11 AM), but I know parking is bad around the stadium, is it really that bad? If I decide to park downtown and take the L, wheres a decent place to park? What time do I have to get there to see the cubs BP and get good seats? (in the bleachers) Whats a good pizza place (michigan ave area) to hit? Everyone says Gino's but I've heard its kind of a tourist trap? :? Is there anything else I should really know? Sorry for asking a billion questions, but I figured if anyone would be able to help me it'd be the posters here. :P
