  1. Yes. If the Cubs clinch, both Z and Lilly will sit. If they somehow clinch before Friday (which I see as possible but not likely) then my guess is that they will likely still give Rich Hill his start so he isn't waiting too long before his start in the playoffs. Personally, I'd probably pitch Z on Friday even if the Cubs clinch and give Hill and Lilly time off. I want Z on as close to regular rest as possible so he doesn't come out too strong, and Hill has thrown a lot of innings for what he's used to this year so he could use the break. I think that if they clinch on Friday, Zambrano would still pitch on Saturday. Lilly will be your game 1 starter (Wednesday the 3rd) and then Zambrano with regular rest for game 2 (Thursday the 4th). Although another bad Zambrano start would raise some question marks about the rotation going into the postseason. I would still roll the dice, though. Zambrano on 8 days of rest=not good.
  2. Eat a Bag, Cordero. Moon shot baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I really like this lineup. I think DeRosa is perfect for the two-hole. Murton has hit Duke very well, much better than Floyd at least. Obviously, Soto being in the lineup is a good idea. I only thing I would change is Soto up to the number 5 spot and Murton in the number 6 spot. Thanks. Hopefully that's what it is. Although Monroe sucks. I would rather see Pie get a shot against a lefty, but then your last 3 batters are pretty much guaranteed outs because of Pie's very limited at bats lately. The only reason I think Murton at 5 is because he's patient enough to take a walk in front of powerful Soto. Not that Geo isn't that patient, but I would still trust Murton more with guys on base in a high pressure situation. Either way, both guys can hopefully get a lot of playing time down the stretch and next year. That would be 3 minimum salary guys in the lineup, 2 in the rotation, and a few in the bullpen.
  4. Here's your lineup: Soriano DeRosa Lee Ramirez Murton Soto Monroe Cedeno Hill I'll take 4 more first inning runs, please. Thanks.
  5. Good thing the Brewers best pitcher didn't pitch. I mean, its going to be awesome seeing a fresh Cordero pitching the 8th tomorrow night when the Crew is down 9-1. Ned Yost, LOL
  6. Astros radio guy saying Oswalt pitches Sunday and then seriously suggests he pitch Thursday and Sunday (30th) just so he can pitch in Biggio's last game. He should never be allowed inside a major league stadium again. I hope these guys are drunk...and that I never have to listen to them again after this upcoming 1/2 inning. Go Stros
  7. Astros announcers really suck bad. Listening to them on mlb.com and they are absolutely brutal. When Weeks hit the HR, this was the call: "Pence jumps, crashes into the wall, and he's hurt." 10 seconds "Oh, by the way, the ball is gone, tie game. " Thanks for the riveting commentary azzface.
  8. I hope Brad Lidge gets t-bagged by the entire Houston Texans team after this game. Offensive linemen especially.
  9. Dempster not warming up, Howry to pitch 9th.
  10. Well, this is pretty much Dempster's last chance to remain the closer. Disclaimer: I like Dempster and want him to be closer for the rest of the year.
  11. Just imagine the stats he and Mickey Mantle would have put up had they both not been so injury prone. I feel sorry for Griffey, but Mantle screwed himself. He ruined his own career. Most of his injuries were from boozing it up so hard.
  12. This has all the makings of the Victor Diaz game. I hate life.
  13. Note: I still hate Soriano's stupid hop when he catches the ball. Homers=good Stupid hop=bad
  14. Soriano is like the mafia, every time you are ready to absolutely hate him, he hits a big homer and pulls you back in. Nevertheless, I'm not his biggest fan, but if he can continue to hit bombs, that would be OK with me.
  15. I thought Cuse was playing Illinois this week? I keep telling you guys, Illinois is jacked. i hope syracuse is a good team, because illinois just pushed them all over the field today. if they're a good team, illinois is a great team. 3 td's for shard. Syracuse is one of the worst football teams in I-A. They are probably the worst BCS conference team. Iowa manhandled them last week and Washington did the week before.
  16. Hey, we got someone home from 3rd with less than 2 outs. Nice job, Fontenot.
  17. Will also likely play tomorrow afternoon's game because Kendall will play tonight. Yay! :D
  18. Don't be surprised to see Trachsel on Tuesday if the Cubs can either sweep or take 3 out of 4 from the Cards. Especially if the Brewers can continue to suck.
  19. If they win it all, they can re-sign Floyd to a 5yr-$100 million contract for all I care. Hell, they can sign him to a lifetime contract if he actually does something to contribute to that WS victory... But I'd still rather have him retire.
  20. Kip wells with a BAA of .289 this year. Yikes...
  21. This is the lineup for the Cardinals, and one of the worst lineups ever trotted out for a team within 5 games of a division lead in September: Eckstein Cairo Pujols Edmonds Ludwick Shumaker Kelly Stinette Kip Wells Ryan Oh my God that's bad. How have they won more than 60 games this year?
  22. Guarantee that Marmol's run as a closer ends up at or within 2 percentage points of 85%. And I'm thinking Marmol is going to be a great closer. Let's just say he goes 170/200 as a closer in 4 seasons, averaging 42/43 saves/year, everyone will be licking his sack. Just because you're dominant as a reliever doesn't mean you'll be a 95% closer.
  23. huh? I'm saying, I'll take 85% every time. Marmol has been awesome, but I still want Dempter closing. When he's celebrating winning the WS, I'll be happy, but dbags like you will be questioning why 85% Dempster will be out there. Huh? Dbag, why waste a post. how is 2/3 85%? Dempster has saved 83 out of 97 save oppurtunities as closer of the Cubs. Nobody claims he's an elite closer, but he's perfectly acceptable. Add 2/3 out of that and you have 85/100 That's 85% And 2/3 is being pessimistic. So we're either 85 or 86% as a Cub. Not too bad.
