    WEEK 9

    Go Lynx!!!
  2. Quakers

    WEEK 8

My pitching helped pull a little closer yesterday, but as predicted not nearly close enough. Oh well, barring a huge offense surge, it looks like I am going to suffer my second defeat.

    WEEK 8

Well, if I am to have a chance, today is the day. Tim is out of starters and my best two are on the mound (Glavine and Contreras). I really need fanatastic starts out of them, but a 75ish point advantage is going to be tough to overcome in two days. Where Tim is killing me this week is with his pitching. Mine, outside of Johnson (a nice rookie pick-up it appears) has sucked, while Tim's outside of Wood has been great.

    WEEK 8

Finally, the Quakers are having a decent night. But it looks like it is a case of too little, too late. But the bad news is that Maroth's horrid start was due to a bum elbow and he is now on rthe 15 day DL :x . Due to Moroth being placed on the DL. I activated Johnson (he will not start until Monday), put Nolasco in reserve and picked up a minor leaguer.

    WEEK 8

I am sure not offering much competition this week. Maroth is shelled, luckily Detroit came back to win it, Millwood has given up 3 earned runs in three innings. The only thing that is keeping me in it is that Granderson is having quite a week.
  6. Talk to me about Granderson and Maybin.

    WEEK 8

I still think that there should be a rule that says Albert has to be benched if the opposing team has only 5 starts :D I was looking at the top fantasy batters and Albert is about 60 points ahead of the next best player.

    WEEK 8

Well as predicted, the Quakers have fallen behind Northside. Halladay was too much. But at least Wood's performance kept me in the running. Of course I would have done better, but for Cordero. Why do some pitchers excel at setting up, but as soon as they have a save possibility they implode???

    WEEK 8

Well the first day is over and the Quakers hold a slim lead. That lead will probably not last long as NSBB has two starts tonight to none for me. Hate to say it, but it looks like a Quaker victory may depend on Kerry Wood having a terrible week. On a side note it looks like I may have made a mistake in not starting two start pitcher Rickey Nolasco this week. My thoughts were that it was too risky, but I should have followed my own advice and if someone is starting against the Cubs .....
  10. I am catching Tim at a bad time. Next week I will only have 5 starts (the first time this season). I haven't checked up on Tim yet, but I suspect he has more than 5.
  11. I believe the trend will be working in the right direction once again this week! We will have to see how the Yankees/Mets game goes, but I could be the points leader for this week.

    WEEK 7

Contreras might have a pitch count, but I haven't heard anything about it. I do know that Contreras threw over 90 pitches in a simulated game a few days ago and felt no ill effects.
  13. Juan, isn't there a rule in the Roadkill by-laws that says that any manager that has Pujols has to bench him in a week when he is playing a team that only has 5 starts?????
  14. I like seeing Glavine on that list. Besides the fact that he is a member of the Quakers (not an insignificant detail mind you), but I have reached the age when I like to see old farts teaching twenty-somethings a thing or two.

    WEEK 7

LOL, you sound like Jim Hendry, "hey, this guy isn't working out, you want him?" Yep, that's my motto. "Buy high and Sell low". That and "Pay too much for over-the-hill has-beens and put your faith in toolsy prospects with speed" I have noticed that no one has made an offer. Ah Millwood with a 7 inning shutout, Maroth and Josh Johnson have decent starts, and Mauer has a big day. I am heading into Sunday with about a 40 point lead :D I wonder where Raw is? He has been quiet this week, out of town? 90 point night, and counting. 17-38, 6 doubles, 3 HRs. 21.3 IP, 16 H, 4 ER, 18/3 K/BB, 3 QS. And you have Contreras vs. the Cubs (which is an easy 20-point game) and the red-hot Tom Glavine going tomorrow. Ah, you are around. Yes indeed, not a bad day for my Quakers :) But you still have three starts tomorrow to my two.

I can understand Holiday hitting the cover off the ball, but Freddy Sanchez??????

    WEEK 7

I am in a tight one with Raw. I am down by 20 points, but I have an extra start. I need a big weekend from my starters and a couple of my hitters to get hot. I am worried about Randy Johnson. Anyone who is interested in him can make me an offer.
  20. Possible. I am closer to you than Raisin, but it is still a drive (6-7 hours?). One possibility would be to meet up in Eugene when Boise comes through in August (at least I think they do??). Eugene is about a 2 hour drive for me, so about 6 hours for you. But the drive for you is one of the more scenic streches of road I have ever been on. Another possibility would be for you to drive up to my place in Portland (I have a spare bed) and we could check out the Boise/Salem Kaiser series in June. Btw - I know there is train service from Portland to Eugene. Is there service from Redding to Eugene or Portland?
  21. Mount Shasta is nice. The best memory I have of it is seeing it from Mount Ashland in southern Oregon on a cold winters day.
  22. Thanks for picking the week you play me to tank it:) Actually your score is probably due to the amazing Quaker defense.
  23. Boise will be playing Salem-Kaiser in the second series of the season, so I will have a early look as to whether we have any talent at Boise.

    WEEK 7

Raw, you don't stand a chance against the Quaker's potent defense. :shotgun:
  25. I will risk that potent Cub offense. Contreras's return is not certain from what I have read, but likely. So I am assuming that I can use McCarthy (and possibly a healthy Contreras) as stated above until someone tells me otherwise. I will have a 9-7 advantage in starts over Raw next week, but Josh Johnson and McCarthy will be risky.
