  1. A buddy was in the waiting room for over 2 hours, and his gf at least an additional hour and came away with nothing. Will they be for sale on-line tomorrow?
  2. Yea, but including walks kind of takes the effect out of the meaning of slugging, eh? lol
  3. I'll be damned. I guess I was always under the impression SLG was just extra-base hits.
  4. Okay, I came off a little too much. But I don't think it's debateable that its quite a surprise they are leading the Big 10. Yes, they are talented, but they don't have the talent of other teams in the conference imo (Mich. St, Illinois, and even IU). They're also well-coached.
  5. I always took SLG as a fine measure of a players capacity for extra-base hits. There are many ways to advances runners outside of extra base hits.
  6. I know and that was why my post talked about, the fact that OPS does combine OBP (walks) and SLG.
  7. Why walks aren't included in SLG was the questiion. And OPS is the closest average that does that combining SLG and OBP.
  8. I don't think I'd called them overrated, just another example of a team playing beyond its means and above its expectations. But their consistency and grittiness could take them to the BIG 10 tourney championship
  9. I'll take it you said that before DJ went down
  10. People always say Michigan St. will go far in the tournament and I hate them even more than Illinois. My money's still on Ohio St. and that won't change unless something drastic happens at the end of the conference season.
  11. Correctomundo!
  12. White's not going anywhere. If I can remember correctly, Courtney Sim(m)s will be back in Ann Arbor.
  13. Yea, they essentially switched places with IU
  14. delete
  15. This is horseshizzle. Also, how the hell is Davis able to give an interview to ESPN shortly after the Iowa game when he is in bed recovering from a "very serious" flu? Your best bet is to shut your mouth in that scenario, Mike. It's not going to be in your best interest to give an interview when you can't even make it to Assembly Hall for the game. IU looked like crap again...careless passes...many, many turnovers. I'd rather watch a team with technical proficiency and little athleticism. I've pretty much not watched an Indiana basketball game for two seasons now. Thankfully, I sense that my self-imposed boycott of Indiana basketball may be ending soon. It's only a matter of time before Davis gets a pink slip. I am perplexed by the audacity of Mike Davis. Just as any business, "Mike Davis, What have you done for me lately?" The answer, no question, would be jacksh!t. I was shocked, and irate he didn't get the pink slip after last season.
  16. Ohio State is the team that is coming into their own. They have looked very good and will make the Big Ten tournament all that more exciting.
  17. Since Quinn Snyder has made his resignation official, thus in need of a job, and IU at least should truly be looking for another coach, I will even gladly throw in Sean Kline or Donnie Marsh as compensation for Quinn.
  18. What a worthless piece of sh!t. And I agree with you, IU played ugly for much of the game. Very wise move by Davis to turn even more people in Bloomington against him by, in essence, blaming the dismal second half of the season on the fans. Part of me wishes I was still there just to be closer to it all, but after last season, I'd be far too depressed. Hoping Illinois doesn't come back...
  19. I understand the arbitration, but why would Zambrano settle for 6.5? I know its just about to "split the difference", but why would he give up the extra 100K. Is it just because it's such a short-term deal?
  20. I think the OF, the teams offense for that matter, is almost exclusively dependent on Pierre getting back into form. I don't think Murton will struggle, but I don't believe he will amount to what many on here expect of him, at least this season anyway. Regarding Pierre, I don't know how many times I was cursing this team for not getting on base and providing opportunities for Lee and Ramirez, whenever ARam didn't play due to a hang-nail. I still believe that was the overriding detriment to last years team. If we can get the Pierre of old this season, and get at least average production out of Lee, and largely, the rest of the lineup the offense will be fine. Pitching is another story. I think pitching will have to exceed their past performances as a whole, and I stress "past performances" because I did not want to use the term potential. We all know they have potential. I know I said before last season, this Kerry's make-or-break year, but injuries hindered that. I think this year really is his make-or-break year. He got the surgery, should have sufficient time for recovery. Prior needs to step up. Hopefully, Maddux won't frusturate me so much this year. But overall, I think if they do get a little above-average pitching and steady offense, with a particularly strong year from Pierre, this team will take the Central.
  21. Very encouraging news about Murton, and from the looks of last season, it appears it will pan out.
  22. good point MPM. But Hendry deserves credit for being in the right place at the right time, so to speak, and jumping at the opportunity to get those players.
  23. lol, thanks for the heads-up IU alumni?
  24. hands down, ARam
