  1. All that (I hope) they're looking for is a real cubs fan that lives breaths and eats cubs baseball. That'd be vance. I'll be irritated if it's some 18yo girl from Naperville or something
  2. Honestly, he's the best candidate available today after watching all the videos. You don't even have to be biased to vote for Vance, he deserves it. Good luck man - you put in the effort, hope you see the results.
  3. Agreed. Seeing as the entire purpose of a baseball AB is to not make an out, I fail to see any argument for SLG > OBP.
  4. It's odd when you know it's true that racist letters sent to Jacque, and DP's hit into, are in a direct correlation. All I'm saying is that Jacque seemed to almost be sheltered in Minnesota. The pressure was never on him to produce as a LH bat, or even hold his weight defensively. As a member of the Cubs, he's dealt with everything from even hitting 3rd/4th a few days to dealing with the winds out in the OF. Poor guy needs a Xanax I think.
  5. I like him as a person too. But it's hard to keep giving someone a pass when they continually make the same mistakes at the detriment of the team. My wish isn't to see Jones fail and be traded, I'd much rather him be successful here. We'll see.
  6. Maybe his improved attitude is leading to some improved play? Daily Herald
  7. Nah 4-12 Murton goes 4-4  Murton will go 0-4 with 2 K's and a missed cut off man. he will also fail to score from 3rd on a sac fly resulting in mt. lou erupting and engulfing sheffield in fiery ash. jones...is starting against a lhp, khemennu said enough about this.
  8. murtonfan, maybe take some time off this thread and go finish constructing your shrine to matt murton. maybe you can find some initial offerings to present to it as well
  9. When they get Sheets back will greatly decide how long that pitching ratio stays lopsided. Alternatively we could make up some ground if we finally found a RF.
  10. I place the blame of Murton's defensive shortcoming on mental mishaps more than physical. He still seems very unsure of himself, and there's a good chance that's translating to his AB's as well. He seems to be a player whose talents are directly dependent to his confidence. So maybe there is some connection between his playing time and production. Who knows.
  11. good luck to your cousin in the future! its awesome to even be in A ball, let alone AAA or the bigs
  12. Philly's putting out a decent lineup tonight, c'mon Ted
  13. I'm excited for this entire week of baseball. Tough teams, starting out with the great pitching matchup, on national tv no less, of Hamels vs Lilly. Lets go Cubs, show everyone you're for real!
  14. To me, its more than obvious that this is in fact the Cubs' current plan for Murton. That is my guess as well, and it's a shame. I think it's a terrible misuse of resources. Well, as much as I crap on Murton, Im no fan of his handling by the organization. Maybe we can all agree on that at least.
  15. To me, its more than obvious that this is in fact the Cubs' current plan for Murton.
  16. There's a school of thought that call-ups should be thrown right into the lineup, and not sit for 3-4 days once they first come up. If there was anything to be gained by putting him in AAA it was to get him consistent playing time, calling him up and having him sit negates that benefit. If Murton is back here to just play once every 3-4 days, there's really no benefit to having him here. Murton is beyond the point of say, Pie, where sitting on the bench is hampering his production or something. With that said, I honestly believe he was recalled to be showcased, and that isnt even happening.
  17. oh hey look, diamondmind posting that he doesn't think murton is good, but not providing an alternate solution for the lack of production in rightfield! I fail to see the purpose in rehashing trading for Griffey, keeping Floyd ungimped, etc etc. What do you want from me?
  18. Ranting about people having an irrational love for Murton after they make points that you didn't/can't refute probably isn't going to help. I really don't care what people think, Im not trying to 'prove' anything, unlike you. I just really am sick of people worshiping Murton, its no more complicated than that.
  19. Why even open the damn thread that has Murtons name in it if you have such a big damn problem with it? I think you are the one who needs to get over it, if you dont want to hear about Murton then dont open the damn thread, its that simple, so seriously get over it. Well, I cant get enough of peoples overreactions to murton bashing. I need to write a few of them down and start a collection for a book.
  20. Actually, only 5 more pennants total and a 517 winning % to the cubs 514%. Oh, and your sig pic is obnoxiously large.
  21. I hope Murton's traded just so I can read more than 2 or 3 threads on this forum without being inundated with whining about how awesome he supossedly is. Oh wait, as a corner OF he had a 809 ops in 400 something AB's once. WOW what a player!! Seriously, get over it.
  22. I look at Arizona's box scores day after day and am completely baffled how they're doing it
  23. That ball landed in the middle of what looked like an entire section of Cubs fans
