  1. I love you. I'd rather have a 40 year old mickey morandini at 3rd. or josh vitters, Im not picky.
  2. Sort of. It even concerns me, my irrational hatred of Ian Stewart. I need help.
  3. Barney was the only thing that made me :D tonight. Whatever that's worth. Great play in the 5th. It's not even elite defense at this point, it's [expletive] amazingly elite defense.
  4. I'm sorry but that's the dumbest [expletive] I've ever read. I'm a believer in metrics, but only to a point. Stewart is/was LOST at the plate, that is OBVIOUS to anyone that's watched him this year. Give me a [expletive] break. I'm not espousing he's worthless, but - wait - yes I am. He's a bum. Get over it. Players like Stewart occur ALL THE TIME, it's sad, yes, but I'm not going to get hung up on a guy that cant hit offspeed/breaking pitches to (literally) save his career, even if 'he has a chance to be better than tyler colvin'. who I also think is a bum, just a better bum. Bring on Vitters. You guys have to draw the line on this SABR [expletive] at some point. It's an important addition to scouting, yea, but if it leads you to defend Ian Stewart just to spite people and prove you're intellectually superior at metrics.....that's enough to throw up 1000 red flags to me and simultaneously lead to me not giving a [expletive]. You'll never convince me otherwise so just shut the thread down or whatever. We're both Cubs fans, so lets relate on that, and never speak of Ian Stewart again. Some of you are just a less prophetic version of Meph. He was as bat [expletive] crazy as me, but man, he nailed a lot of points. It's...just how it is. [expletive] Ian Stewart.
  5. Lol how? by not completing a dempster deal when he was arguably at the peak of his trade value by not selling a stock at its apparent market high
  6. guys did we just [expletive] ourselves?
  7. every time I feel hopeful for maybe, oh, more than ten days - Im reminded Im a cubs fan
  8. basically true. phillips will unfortunately win it. phillips range/dwar 4.59/1.0 barneys range/dwar 5.17/2.9 phillips ops: 774 barneys ops: 692 don't be so sure imo, offensively they aren't THAT far apart. pretty confidant barneys got this locked up, honestly. the leagues taken notice of the fact that he has a vacuum attached to him.
  9. I've got the bottle of JD ready for when Dempster's freak injury occurs tonight. Just a pro tip to the rest of you.
  10. Why? 833 road ops, 861 ops against lhp...so I don't think there's an obvious Coors Field rebuttal here, or something similar. I honestly don't understand. I'd rather of had Jeff Blauser than 2012 Stewart. I'm not being a richard either, I really don't get it. Help me understand. Disagree...all ten would be pretty bad and there'd actually be three more that cost you a game. Anyway I really wonder if his wrist was hurting him (and his production) all year, and he just never said anything until it became totally unbearable cause he wasn't sure if this would be the last opportunity he'd get. This isn't very exciting but the most likely explanation to me.
  11. My point was never anything to do with Colvin in a vacuum. My point was I'd rather have Colvin, this year, than ten Ian Stewarts. It was a throwaday deal anyway, I just don't understand the vociferous support that was going around for Stewart. He gave people a reason to be hopeful in the past, but, that shits overwith now.
  12. No reason not to trust Hoyer at this point in time. Nicely done sir.
  13. I was thinking that driving home. Might be worth gambling and letting him start tonight. If he goes out there and dominates St Louis, might be enough to convince whatever team to capitulate and add that extra bit to the deal.
  14. 2.9 DWAR for Barney, next guy is Alexi Casilla at 1.3 If he doesn't win a GG....ugh. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/fielding/_/position/2b/sort/defWARBR Me or neely? :P
  15. Heh, I changed the title - had no idea it'd show on the main page. Back to random Darwin facts - did you know he's an accomplished pianist and can play totally by ear? He also once killed a shark with his own hands.
  16. I love this guy. I'd love to contribute a more well thought out post, but, I'd rather the Darwin love flow through you all. Thief in the night defensively. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=23155393&topic_id=&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_23155393&v=3 http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=22781233&topic_id=&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_22781233&v=3 http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=22781283&c_id=mlb

  18. loool - I hope you all saw that "he likes taking long naked walks on the beach" - DARWIN BARNEY "he likes walking on the beach with darwin" - LUIS VALBUENA "he leads the league with 450 strikeouts" - JEFF SMARHADASDJFZIJJJAAAA
  19. When Camp and Campy enter the game, its a W.
  20. Dawson is great - he gets us the lead then makes it rain.
  21. It's obvious to me Dawson should do every 7th inning stretch from this point on.
